Jim Niemann was one of the early proponents of Pickleball (PB) in the Clinton area. He loved the sport and the many friends he made playing it. He played at the Clinton Community Center and on other area courts. Jim passed away on Dec. 31, 2021, leaving his wife Lois, two children, grandchildren, extended family, and a large group of good friends. Jim grew up in Appleton City. Mark Parker and others organized the Memorial Tournament in Jim’s honor. The tournament was held on Friday, Jan. 20 at the Clinton Community Center. Twenty participated in the mixed doubles tourney. Players rotated partners through their seven matches so no advantage was established. The results: 1st- Ian Radford, 2nd- Mark Parker and Bill Simms, 3rd- Chad Anderson, 4th Carlene Lowe. Shirts were provided by the Niemann family. Everybody enjoyed the area’s first PB tourney and is looking forward to the next one.
