Cards Softball Season Comes To End

THE LADY CARDS played the top ranked Holden Eagles in the first round of Class 3 District 7. They came up short losing 5-1. Briley Wishard pitched a good game but did allow two home runs that gave the Eagles their five runs. The Cards are a young team losing only one senior, Bailey Jones, their third basemen. The team will have 16 underclassmen returning next year. With hard work, they will have a program clearly on the rise. It was a scoreless tie in the third when the Eagles got their first HR. The Cards scored one run in the fifth but gave up another long ball in the fifth. Fighting back the Cards left two stranded in the sixth. They lost 5-1. Holden will move on with a record of 19-7 . The Cards finished the season 5-15. Coach Bowers commented the girls improved all year long and he is proud of them.
Other District games: Knob lost to P. Hill 5-0, Odessa beat Oak Grove 9-5, Holden beat Odessa 10-6. P. Hill faced Holden in the Championship game with the Eagles winning 3-2(8). Holden now plays Chillicothe on Oct. 20 in the State playoffs.
