Cards Win At Districts

The Cards traveled to Springfield to play Greenwood on Saturday, Oct. 30. The played well and beat the Greenwood Blue Jays 4-1. The Cards controlled the flow of the game and score early. Keaton Townsend made it 1-0. With fourteen minutes left in the half Wally (Big Foot) Gregory hit another in the back of the net to make it 2-0. Abraham Griffey worked his way into position and put the Cardinals up 3-0 at the half. Townsend pushed the ball forward when a Greenwood defender stepped up for the stop. The ball ricocheted off the defender and Townsend got control again and once again headed toward the goal. He beat the goalie with a hard low shot to make it 4-0 Cards. Coach Adams started using some of his younger players knowing another District game was fast approaching on Monday, also in Springfield. Greenwood fought hard to make the final score 4-1. The Cards will take on Osage in the second round.
