Clinton Cardinals Basketball: We Have Tip-Off!

Posted

With the end of fall approaching, a new season is set to begin—in more ways than one. After all, winter is coming. But while winter doesn’t officially begin until December 21, as far as Cardinals basketball is concerned, it’s already here.
Both Cardinals varsity boys and girls basketball at long-last tipped things off in non-scrimmage play for the first time this season, with the Cards and Lady Cards each putting in a final tune-up as they returned to the hardwood this past Tuesday and Wednesday night with their annual Jamboree slates. Welcomed back with cheers from the home crowd, the Lady Cards were back in action first, with a three-game jamboree stretch against St. Paul Lutheran, Lexington and Osceola, followed by the varsity boys on Wednesday, who received a warm fan-welcome of their own as they faced off against Butler, Lexington and Sherwood in opening play.
While the annual jamboree doesn’t have exactly the same feel as a typical regular season matchup, consisting of two six-minute quarters against each opponent, those in attendance this past Tuesday and Wednesday didn’t get that memo, as excitement could be seen all across the stands as of the heels of a long summer and fall sports, Cardinals basketball came into full focus once again.
The Lady Cards look for a bounce-back year this season after ending last year 8-11, beginning with a home-opener on November 22, against Neosho (1-0). As for the Cards, coming into this year off of a 7-20 season, the boys look to start their road to redemption on the road, as they travel to face Knob Noster on November 23.
