International Optimist Day Set For February 2

Posted

Thursday, February 2, 2023 has been designated as International Optimist Day throughout the USA, Canada, the Caribbean and the many other countries that now have Optimist Clubs. Clinton is proud to support two Optimist Clubs, the Clinton Sunrise Optimist Club, founded in 1959, and the Clinton Mid-Day Optimist Club, founded in 1989. Mayor Carla Moberly signed a Proclamation, this week, proclaiming the first Thursday in February as International Optimist Day in Clinton.
The Optimist organization’s motto is “Friend of Youth” and both clubs work throughout the year on projects to help, support and strengthen the youth of this community. From basketball leagues, collecting school supplies, holding a Shopping Spree for kids, to sponsoring the Duck Race each year during Olde Glory Days, the Optimists can be found working for our youth all year long.
The Sunrise Club meets weekly on Thursday mornings at 6:30 at Dietz Restaurant. The Mid-Day Club meets on Wednesdays at noon at various local restaurants.
