Clinton High School senior Hanna Powell has been named the first-ever recipient of the Golden Valley VFW Post 1894 Auxiliary Adversity Scholarship, established in memory of Auxiliary member William “Bubba” Rhoads.vcPowell received the award during Clinton High School’s Senior Awards Night, held May 1 in the school’s Performing Arts Center. The honor was formally recognized again at the Auxiliary’s regular meeting on May 8 (pictured).v“Membership in the Auxiliary is not a requirement to win this scholarship,” noted Auxiliary President Andrew Umland. “However, it seems fitting that our first recipient is a member herself and someone who knew ‘Bubba,’ who passed away last August.” The Adversity Scholarship was created to recognize students who have demonstrated resilience and determination in overcoming personal challenges. The Auxiliary congratulates the Clinton High School Class of 2025 and looks forward to continuing this tradition of support in future years.
