Shirley Mae (Wetzel) Walters passed away on May 11, 2023, in Smithfield, Virginia. She was born on February 13, 1945, to Chester and Gladys (Jackson) Wetzel. She married her high school sweetheart Ronnie Walters in November 1961. They were married for 59 years. They lived in Independence for many years before settling in Clinton for 37 years. After her husband passed, she moved to Virginia for the remainder of her time. She is preceded in death by her parents, Chester & Gladys Wetzel, her Brother William Wetzel, and her husband James R. Walters. She is survived by her three children: Jeff and his wife Melanie, Randy and his wife Sheila and Diane Walters, Brother Jack Wetzel, many grand/great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was very loved and will be missed by many.
She was a wonderful Wife & Mother who was always there when someone needed her. She worked tirelessly both in and out of her home for many years. She enjoyed being outside and taking walks, gardening, camping and square dancing. She really liked traveling and enjoyed her vacations. She enjoyed long car rides and motorcycle trips with her husband Ron. She worked hard and ended up with many friends from the community. Services were held at Sheldon-Goodrich Funeral Home in Osceola, Missouri on Saturday, May 20th. There was a 9am visitation and services were at 10am.
