Three In A Row! Lady Cards Softball Reclaims Tournament Glory

Posted

For the third time this season, and in as many weeks, Cardinals softball has run the table in tournament play, winning yet another tournament on the heels of their walk-off victory in Warrensburg just last week.
Entering the tournament having stumbled into the wrong side of a two-game slide earlier in the week, falling to the same Warrensburg Lady Tigers the Lady Cards had previously walked-off for their second tournament championship along with Oak Grove, who blanked the Lady Cards 15-0, Cardinals Softball entered the Weaubleau Softball Tournament looking to right the ship.
And with a chip on their shoulder, they did just that.
To get there, the Lady Cards slugged their way past Macks Creek, as they dispatched the Lady Pirates 15-0. Following their strong start, Cardinals softball then set their sights on hometown Weaubleau in what would be a back-and-forth matchup, with the Lady Cards topping the Tigers in tight one by a score of 7-6, and punching their ticket to their third tournament championship contest on the year.
Their opponents, the Marion C. Early Panthers would fight the Cardinals hard, but in the end, it would be Cardinals softball holding up the trophy once again as they tamed the Panthers 2-1.
With the victory, which gives Cardinals Softball a spotless 3-0 record in championship play on the season, the Lady Cards continue to impress.
No moment ever seems too big for this team, as they continue to rise to the occasion when pressure is at its highest. Cardinals Softball looks to ride its tournament momentum into the coming week, as the Lady Cards get set to go on the road, facing off against Odessa, Summit Christian and Knob Noster, before finally returning home for a matchup with Oak Grove.
Cardinals Softball Stand-Outs from the Weaubleau Tournament:
Briley Wishard 16 Strikeouts, 0 Walks in Championship Play
