CCA Lady Patriots Basketball Completes Successful Seasons

Posted

Another enjoyable season of basketball has concluded for the Clinton Christian Academy Lady Patriots.
With 5th/6th grade, JH, JV, and varsity teams, there was always exciting basketball to enjoy. Key injuries impacted the dynamics of the program, but every level stepped up to meet the challenge and grow in skill and spirit.
Several 6th graders moved up to complete the JH roster. While always outsized by opponents, the JH squad finished 3-9 with numerous close games decided by only a couple of possessions. Carissa Compton made the MO-KAN JH all-tournament 2nd team and Brooklyn Wisniewski made 1st team.
Although no official JV team existed, CCA tried to accommodate schools who did not have varsity by playing 7th-10th graders to form a JV team. They finished 3-2 and gave some younger players a taste of what the next level will be like.
Despite the loss of Kylie Bateman to a knee injury, the CCA Lady Patriots varsity finished the season 13-7, 3rd in the MO-KAN conference and 2nd at the MCSAA state tournament, division 3. Audrey Higgins was first team MO-KAN all tournament and Clara Hyke was second team. Both girls were selected 1st team all-conference and 1st team all-state with Audrey Foster making 2nd team all-state. Clara Hyke set a school record with  35 points and 31 rebounds in the first round game at state, thanks in part to Audrey Higgins school record 9 assists. CCA is blessed to compete in a Christian conference and Christian athletic association.
