Calhoun Community Church
Greetings from Calhoun Community Church where everyone is somebody and Jesus Christ is Lord. We are located on the southeast corner of the Calhoun square. We are a MultiDenominational congregation and gather for pre-church food and fellowship at 9:30 a.m. This is a special time for visiting, signing cards of encouragement for our card ministry, and welcoming guests for worship. Pastor Jerry Reed rang the church bell at 9:45 a.m. to call our church families to worship at 10:00.
We extend our Sympathy and Christian love to the family and Friends of Brian Bicknell, David Avery, and Joseph Azcona (police dectective in N.Y. killed by a 14 year old) who were called to their heavenly home this week. Others on our prayer list include Jan Reed, Chick Aker, Dennis and Marty Carter, Stanley and Elaine Egbert, Joe Goodrich, Patty Dump’s Mother Mary, Gerald Barrow, Taylie Stauber, Grayson Lowe, Sondra Short, Dave and LaDawn Burson, Amber, Patrick, and Brecklynn Dittmer. We continue to pray for our military men and women and their families, as well as others in service jobs that we depend upon daily.
Joys to celebrate: We are grateful for warmer temperatures and signs of spring as well as being able to gather as a church family to glorify our Lord. We sang Happy Birthday to Linda Hawkins this morning and wishing her many more. Ms. Carol brought her famous Snicker-doodle cookies for our fellowship time, we extend our Thanks. Brylee Keller and Isabella Bradberry lit the altar candles and Brylee and Kesslyn Williamson served as ushers collecting the offering. Shelby Bicknell sang “My Brother and My Friend,” a song of his own composure for special music as a tribute to the memory of his brother Brian, and Jeremy Reed accompanied him on the drums. We were pleased to have Isabella Bradberry, Mariah Schrader, and Ron Hansen visiting this morning. Through the direction of Rev. Joe and Marlene Hall Harvesters Food Distribution will be at Calhoun Friday, March 14 at regular time. Volunteers are always welcome for this worthwhile program. “All things can be acomplished through Jesus Christ,” has a much deeper meaning for the seven ofus who stepped out in faith 2 years ago to restart our former UMC as Calhoun Community Church. Our growth has been amazing with 36 today. Praise the LORD!!!
We are a country church where country folk gather to glorify the Lord and socialize one with another. We invite you to come and worship with us and share in the Glorious Gospel.
Our Epitome of Faith and Doctrine is: We believe in God the Eternal Father, and in His Son Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost. We believe that men will be punished for their own sins, and not for Adam’s transgression. We believe that through the atonement of Jesus Christ all mankind may be saved by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the gospel. We believe that these ordinances are, first Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, repentance; third, baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth, laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost. We believe that a man must be called of God by prophecy, and by laying on of hands, by those who are in authority to preach the gospel and administer in the ordinances thereof. ( Will follow with more in next Sunday’s Service.)
On Sunday 16th of March our speaker will be Paul Frinsthal, with pot luck following the service. We welcome you to come and worship with us.

On Sunday, Student Pastor Ryan Campos delivered a powerful examination of Jesus’ temptation in the wilderness. Pastor Ryan invited members and guests to reflect on their own struggles with sin and temptation. The account in Luke 4 reveals how Jesus, though truly God, experienced real human trials. This reminds us that in our moments of weakness, we’re not alone. The Holy Spirit, who led Jesus into the wilderness, is also with us in our trials. We’re challenged to trust in God’s provisions, worship Him alone, and cling to His word when faced with temptation. Just as Jesus resisted Satan’s offers of instant gratification and power, we too can resist the temporary pleasures of sin by focusing on God’s eternal plan for us. This message encourages us to see our identity not in our failures, but in Christ’s victory. By His grace, we can overcome sin and grow more Christ-like, fulfilling our true human potential!

Our Lord Jesus Christ is able to sympathize with us in our weaknesses.
We are sinners. Jesus himself was tempted as we are, yet He was without sin. We can boldly and humbly ask our Lord for forgiveness. We will find help and mercy in our time of need. Rev. Mary Anna Townsend delivered the message “Belief in Christ: The Sure Foundation”. Her scripture choice was Luke 4: 1-13 and Romans 10: 8b – 13. Rick Lingenfelter played the anthem “Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee” on piano.
All 124 plus cans of soup in a wide variety of flavors and sizes was delivered to the Samaritan Center Food Pantry. Thank you to all who participated in this collection. Stay tuned to see what mission project the Presbyterian Women sponsor next.
Tai Chi classes continue on Mondays and Wednesday at 10:00 am in our Fellowship Hall. Join in the fun while you are strengthening your core and improving your balance.
An open invitation is always extended for you to come be a part of First Presbyterian Church. A warm, friendly atmosphere will welcome you. Worship begins at 10:30 am. Trinity Lutheran
Evangelism is important. Why? Because Jesus said it is.
Jesus said: “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to the whole creation. He who believes and is baptized shall be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.” (Mark 16:15-16).
Even so, evangelism is considered by many Christians today to be an old-fashioned, out-of-date concept.. Those who oppose proselytizing argue, “If all paths lead to the same God, then what difference does it make what religion a person is? All that really matters is an individual be sincere in his religious beliefs and does his best to follow his beliefs, whatever they may be.”
Of course, this is nonsense. All paths don’t lead to the same God. There is only one true God...the triune God of Christianity...Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. His name in human form is Jesus. “And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” (Acts 4;12).
Every interaction we have with others is an opportunity for evangelism. We witness to others not so much through words, but by how we live and conduct ourselves as we go about our daily lives. Christians should live their lives in such a manner that others want the same faith in Jesus that they see in those they know who are believers.
If we do this, those around us will be interested and open to an invitation to attend church with us. There they will hear the preaching of the gospel and observe the administration of the sacraments. It is through these “means of grace,” Word and Sacrament, that the Holy Spirit works salvation and strengthens faith in all of us.
We don’t have to be Bible experts or great orators to witness to others. We don’t have to know the answer to every spiritual question someone might have. We don’t have to “convince” someone we know to become a Christian. All we need do is live our normal, everyday lives and let the Holy Spirit do the rest.
Invite someone you know to attend church with you this Sunday. You may be surprised when they respond, “I’ve been waiting for you to ask me.

All were blessed as we gathered to worship the Lord. Clint Keeney rang the church bell.
Mrs. Julia Klinefelter led in the congregational singing with Mrs. Dixie Collins playing piano.
We rejoiced with Lonny Bramell on his birthday. Randy Vogt and Clint Keeney collected the offering.
Steve Sowell filled in for Pastor Joshua Sowell to bring the message. The scripture passage from his sermon was from John 1: 19-28. In this passage John the Baptist was being questioned by priests and Levites asking him who he was. John denied being the Christ, or a Prophet, or a miracle worker. He said that he was a voice for truth and the one who comes after me is the Messiah, the Christ. Read scripture daily and be reminded of God’s truth. Have a wonderful week.
