On Sunday, Pastor Pat Findley delivered the 8th message of his fall sermon series, ‘Weakness is Greater than Strength’ titled “A Sword for the Lord”. In Judges 7:16-22, having faith in God’s plan, Gideon arms the army of 300 with trumpets and empty jars with torches, rather than swords. Trusting in this peculiar plan describes how faith gives us assurance and confidence in what we cannot see. Gideon leads this surprise attack by commanding the vastly outnumbered army to blow their trumpets and break their jars, all while shouting “A sword for the Lord and for Gideon!”. The Midianites were so startled, they turned on each other. This story emphasizes how brightly God’s glory shines. God wins every battle He fights. Just as Gideon was in a battle, the Christian life is a battle. We must embrace what it means to be a jar of clay, and when our brokenness collides with darkness, that is when God’s glory shines the brightest! Let us not focus on what we can do for Him, but what He can do through us. God doesn’t depend on us. We depend on Him! To God be the Glory!

“It’s Time to Make a Choice Because Time is Winding Up”
People need to put their trust in God. God gives us a choice of who to serve. It is a free-will thing.
2 Kings 5:9.
He was more upset that Elisha told him to dip in the river seven times. Naaman did not want to do things God’s way he wanted to do things his way.
Elisha stayed in the house because it was up to Nsaman to choose according to his free will.
It is up to us to do things without depending on others. What Naaman dealt with was also symbolic of baptism. When he went down in the water he came up clean. When we are baptised we go down dirty but come up clean.
Naaman had a choice to make. he could go down in water and come out clean or not.
2Ki 5:14-15.
It is time to make a choice. Love the Lord and keep his commandments. This is the choice of life. The choice of death is turning to other gods. What choice will you make?
It is up to us to know God for ourselves. Each of us will have to stand alone before him. A lot of people want to serve God but still have other gods in their lives. They want to live according to the world.
How can Satan deceive a whole world except eight people?
Joshua told the people to choose whom they would serve. (Joshua 24:15)
Elijah told the people at Mount Carmel in
1Ki 18:24.
We have a choice like Naaman did. It says in Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
God Bless

Please be in prayer as we transition one resident out of Zoe’s Home into her own home and move another resident in. The new resident is 34 weeks pregnant with a baby boy. We look forward to her journey! Also, please continue to be in prayer about possible expansion opportunities. - In Christ, Emily Stocking.
There are many people today who proudly proclaim they don’t believe in Jesus or His “Sky Daddy.”They mock those who do. They have allowed their hearts to be hardened to the Gospel message: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life” (John 3:16). These people believe Jesus’ resurrection is a lie, a fairy tale believed only by those who are weak, ignorant, superstitious, and completely clueless!
Those who believe in Jesus Christ know better. Jesus’ resurrection from the dead is the heart and core of the Christian faith. As Paul says, “If Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile, and you are still in your sins” (I Cor. 15:17).
For those whom God has given faith through Word and sacrament, there is no doubt that Jesus did rise from the dead. It is not a lie. It is not a fairy tale.It is true.
Shortly after Jesus’ ascension into heaven to sit at the right hand of God the Father, the Apostle Peter preached a sermon to thousands of Jews in Jerusalem which focused on the certain fact…that no one present could dispute…that Jesus rose from the dead. “This Jesust,” said Peter, “ God raised up, and of that we are all witnesses...Let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made Him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified” (Acts: 2:32, 37).
Jesus was crucified, died and was buried. He did rise from the dead. He is alive today. There is no doubt. He is our Savior, worthy of all honor and praise. There is no doubt. HE IS RISEN!

Autumn warmed us as we gathered to worship the Lord. Clint Keeney rang the church bell. Mrs. Julia Klinefelter led in the congregational singing with Mrs. Dixie Collins playing piano. Randy Vogt and Clint Keeney collected the offering.
The scripture passage from interim Pastor Steve Sowell was from John19: 17-37.
In this passage Jesus was crucified and died on the cross. All this was foretold 600 years before and came true. He sacrificed His life for us to save us from sin.
Jesus gives us eternal life with Him, peace, hope, and takes care of all things big and small. He knows everything about us and still loves and cares for us.
Share some love and kindness like Jesus does for us. It is never wasted.

Our doors are wide open as we welcome all to come and worship with us next Sunday morning at 9 am.
Our Church Consistory board announced that the proceeds from our Oktoberfest will go to the St. Clair County Food Bank and to the Henry County Samaritan Center.
We thank David Maggi for bringing the wonderful message this morning in absence of Rev Dane. We thank Karen Switzer for sharing her talent and being our song leader this morning!
We send prayers of love and healing to members Lauren Sommer, John Gover and Mary Chapman.
We pray for love, peace and understanding in our hearts as we make choices to do what God truly expects us to do.
God sent to us his only Son so through him we can see God. When we look at the little baby Jesus in the manger and read about and envision the great teacher and healer he became, you can see the love and grace that he has for all of his children.
What do others think when they meet us? Do they see God’s love in our faces? Do we forgive others that we feel have wronged us? Our behavior and actions need to be consistent. Our decisions of how we act and what we say affects so many. When we follow God’s plan for us, others will see this love and grace in our faces, in our actions and within our hearts.
We all have days that we aren’t our best. When others criticize us, we may feel unwanted or just plain unworthy. We try to do better, but it still feels like we can’t get it right.
It is those days we must remember that even when we are less than perfect, Jesus he still loves us and knows our hearts. He never leaves us. It is through him that we will find forgiveness and it is through him that we find our salvation. All of our doubt will disappear and nothing but faith, hope and love will remain.
