Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow, we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit,” whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away
-James 4:13-14

James reflects on those who plan for the future without consulting with the Father. At times, we are all guilty of this failure. We will do X, Y, or Z tomorrow, but we do not know what tomorrow will bring. I am sure some Afghan citizens had long-range plans suddenly canceled by the Taliban’s takeover. It’s okay to plan for the future, but be sure God is at the center of your plans. None of us know what tomorrow will present to us.
James reminds us that life itself is uncertain. It is like a vapor that appears for a brief time and then vanishes away. Many of us seniors can identify with James. We look back over our years and exclaim, “Where did the time go?” Eighty-eight years seemed like a long time away when I was 16, but 88 years is a reality today! Our earthly life is so brief. Make sure you are trusting in Jesus and including Him in your plans. Eternity follows death, and eternity is forever! In the eyes of God, we are like a puff of smoke that will soon fade away. Don’t get so entangled in this life that you neglect the life to come. Don’t make plans for tomorrow without seeking first the will of God.

OUR BIBLE SCHOOL WILL BE JUNE 30 – JULY 3 FROM 5:30 PM TO 8PM EACH NIGHT. HOPEFULLY WE WILL SEE YOUR PRE-K THRU 6 GRADERS THERE. Happy anniversary to David and Lanie Wettengel. We had some visitors today and we invite them to come back and join us. There were many in service today. It was great to see them in church.
Pastor Jesse’s message was about prayer. His text was from Joshua 7 and Isaiah 38. He talked about two different men in different situations. Joshua won the battle of Jericho with the help of God. The second battle with Ai was unsuccessful. Joshua sent men but they were killed. Joshua prayed to the Lord and the Lord told him there was sin in the camp. Achan had taken some devoted things. Achan confessed and then was stoned to death.
In Isaiah 38 we find the king Hezekiah who came through David’s line, the line of Jesus. Hezekiah was at the point of death and was told by Isaiah to put his house in order. He turned to the wall and prayed. Isaiah told him he had heard from the Lord because of his prayers and will add fifteen years to Hezekiah’s life. God turned the sun back ten steps.
Prayer is what this world can’t live without. The world can’t offer what Jesus can. Prayers tells Jesus our feelings and concerns. Do you have sin in your life? Are you hiding it or don’t know it? God sees your sin. You need a clean slate between you and God. Sin is between you and God. Walk before God and be truthful. Learn how to pray. Jesus cares about us. We need to pray for others as well as ourselves.
DON’T FORGET BIBLE SCHOOL JUNE 30-JULY 3. GOD BLESS YOU THIS WEEK.

Unity Of The Lakes

Rev. Don will be at Unity of the Lakes this Sunday 6/30/24. He is continuing his series of Gospel Miracles with "The Sick Woman." The scripture references are Matthew 9:20-22, Mark 5:25-34 and Luke 8:43-48. We will look at the many levels of meaning in this miracle and what it means for us today. Service is 11 am, dress is casual and all are welcome. Come for service and stay for fellowship and refreshments. Unity teaches the positive, practical Christianity as taught and demonstrated by Jesus Christ. We are located 8 miles south of Warsaw on highway 65. We are the little church with a big heart on the east side of highway. If you would like to set your GPS (God's power steering) our physical address is 34948 Hwy 65 South. We look forward to seeing you. Follow us on Facebook for more information.

In Matthew 21:33-46 Jesus shares another parable. Some will understand, and some will not. A landowner builds a vineyard surrounded by a wall, rents it out, then sends servants at harvest time to collect his share. The tenants beat one, stone one, and kill the other one. The landowner sends more servants, but they too get roughed up and killed. The landowner sends his son thinking the tenants will respect him, but they kill him too, thinking they can have his inheritance, but they are not thinking clearly, how will they in inherit when the owner is still alive. What will happen to the tenant? Jesus confronts the men and forces them to stumble into their own problem. He agrees to stand with them if they worship Him. He gives them the Law, how they as unholy people can be reconciled to a holy God. The Israelites abuse and mistreat each other, and God hunts for a solution to fix it. He floods the earth and then makes a promise to never do it again.
Nothing has changed – we are just as wicked. God gave them everything. A land and a promise. Their own church leaders were treating people poorly. The tenants are confused as to who this all belongs to. Jesus asks again, what do they think the landowner will do when he arrives. Humans have been basing their lives on the wrong things. If the foundation isn’t good, it’s all coming down. We’ve been given and incredible opportunity by our own God and we have squandered it. Jesus did this amazing thing for us, and it didn’t change us. He convicts and there’s still no change. Do we look at others with the love God has for human beings? Do we look like people who have been changed by the grace of God? It all belongs to Jesus, we were shaped and made in His image. At the end of the day, we need Jesus for everything! We need to do more with what we’ve been given.
Join us Sunday mornings for Sunday School at 10 a.m. with Worship at 11 a.m. We have a new Sunday evening Children’s Program at 5:30 p.m. with Adult Bible Study at 6 p.m. Our mid-week Bible Study is Wednesday at 6 p.m. Watch our service live at 11 a.m. each Sunday on Hopewell Baptist Church Facebook page.

Rightly Dividing the Word of Truth
-2 Timothy 2:15

I like to hear opposing views, so I have read tons of stuff on the flat earth, the moon landing, UFO's, JFK and so on.
I have taken home Bible study courses from various churches and denominations. I have read their articles of faith and a slew of commentaries.
All in all, I look back and I believe that I was given a good Bible college education. I was working on a message at the library awhile back and told someone that I was having a difficult time. When asked why, I responded by saying because I was trying to get it right.
I am not a Calvinist. I am pre-trib rapture. I believe in a heaven and a hell.
I have tweaked views over the years but haven't changed any major views.
I am not big on a Sinner's Prayer because there is no perfect prayer. I had a friend who tried to write one and failed. I have met people who couldn't speak and some who couldn't be baptized for various reasons.
God saves souls, not men. God heals, not faith healers.
My sermons are on Facebook as well as a daily prayer time. Our church is located at 31046 Hwy MM in Warsaw. Services are at 10:00 AM for SS and 11:00 AM for worship. We meet at 4:00 PM on Sunday afternoons and prayer meetings are in homes on Wednesdays.
