Calhoun Community Church
Welcome to the Good News from the Calhoun Community Church. Our church family gathers at 9:30 am for pre-church food and fellowship. This is a special time for visiting and welcoming guests as they arrive for worship. We sign cards of encouragement for our card ministry. The bell is rung at 9:45 to call our church family to worship at 10:00 am.
Our sympathy and Christian love are extended to the family and friends of Rodney Isabell and Gary Taylor, who passed into the arms of Jesus recently. Others on our prayer list include Jerry Reed, Chuck Merriott, Debbie Joy, Millie Redding, Amber, Patrick and Brecklynn Dittmer, LaDawn and Dave Burson. We pray for our military men and women and their families, as well as others in service jobs that we depend upon daily.
Joys to celebrate: We were blessed with an unseasonably warm Sunday morning to praise the Lord; Red Velvet cookies with white chocolate chips, courtesy of Carol Lane, were enjoyed by all; Shooter and Stella Price carried the light of Christ into the sanctuary and lit the alter candles this morning; Special Music was provided by Ms Verna singing “Thank You” and “Thank Him and Pray” was sung by Shelby Bicknell, accompanied by Jeremy Reed on the drums. We are so Blessed to have such talent, in our mist, and we Thank them for sharing it; Shooter and Stella Price were also called upon to serve as ushers. We Thank these youngsters very much for filling in during the service; Harold Dump reported that his medical tests came back with better results than anticipated.
We are a diverse multi-denominational group here at Calhoun Community Church. We try to have a little fun, show concern for each other and praise the Lord during our church experience. When the time arises, we try very hard to be the hands and feet of Jesus Christ in our community.
We invite you to be our guest, any Sunday and receive a blessing for your effort. Come dressed as you are comfortable and bring the children to join in the Sunday School Class during the service.

First Baptist
On Sunday, special guest speaker Michael H. highlighted a portion of First Baptist Church’s impact on the world through its ActsONE8 ministry. When we pray and give, we support missions around the world and help to spread the good news of Jesus to lost people. Michael challenged members and guests to consider their aim. As followers of Christ, our aim should be to make disciples, a process which involves lifelong learning and investing in the lives of others. In 2 Timothy, Paul encourages Timothy to have confidence in God’s Word and to preach it with passion. Be strong in His grace and allow Him to use you for His Kingdom, both here and to the ends of the Earth. When we are faithful, there are no limits to what God can do through us. Jesus spent time with a select few to affect the lives of many. Prepare and encourage others. Although some may misunderstand the message or our motives, rejoice over the ones who have the courage to follow Christ. Is the Lord strengthening you? Ask Him to give you understanding!
First Baptist Church will not be broadcasting services on KDKD 95.3 FM radio on Sundays while the station works to repair their tower. Although we’d love to see you in person, we want to let you know that our services are streamed live on our Facebook page (FirstBaptistChurchClinton) at 11:00. You can also view services from our website www.firstbaptistclinton.church, and our app, which is available for Apple and Android products. MidWeek opportunities are offered at 6 pm on Wednesdays for kids, teens, and adults. Celebrate Recovery is on Tuesday evenings at 5:30 pm at the Vansant location for anyone with hurts, habits, or hangups. GriefShare is offered on Wednesdays at 6 pm at the Vansant location. Worship service times are 9:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. and Sunday School is offered at 8:15 a.m. and 9:30 a.m.
For more information and upcoming events, please visit www.firstbaptistclinton.church or find us on Facebook at ‘First Baptist Church – Clinton, MO’. First Baptist Church exists to fulfill the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20) by loving people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.

First Presbyterian
As you gather around the table this Thanksgiving, take time to reflect on the many blessings you have experienced this year. Be grateful for the love and laughter of your family, a table overflowing with delicious food, your warm home, health, all your needs provided for and so much more. Praise God who has also blessed you with His faith and mercy. Let us be mindful to give Him thanks for his unfailing love and wonderful deeds, not just at this time of the year but all year round.
Preparing for Thanksgiving was the title of Rev. Nancy Gillard’s message Sunday morning. Deuteronomy 8: 7 – 18 was her scripture reference. Ann McCoy was our pianist.
The large collection of cake mixes and frosting containers on our foyer shelves has been delivered to the Samaritan Center for Christmas Cheer. The Presbyterian Women appreciate all who so generously gave to support this mission project. Families in Henry County will be the beneficiaries.
The Annual Thanksgiving Potluck Dinner was celebrated Sunday, November 24 following worship service. Turkey, dressing and mashed potatoes were provided and a bounty of other delicious side dishes were added by church family. A great time of fellowship was enjoyed by all in the festively decorated fellowship hall.
Tai Chi classes continue on Mondays and Wednesdays at 10:00 am in our Fellowship Hall. Join in the fun while you are strengthening your core and improving your balance.

Life Ministries
Hearts That Avail are Hearts That Love Jesus
Praise and Worship was full of the power of the Holy Spirit. There was Joy in the House of the Lord with hearts sharing, singing, and praying together @ Life Ministries.
We were reminded that Life Ministries has been serving the Lord with this ministry for six years on November 20. As we serve and love each other we have watched lives change and baptisms occur, miracles happen within the community here because of the work of the Lord and Life Ministries. What a blessing to serve!
Honor and love was shown to widows/widowers Tuesday with a special banquet. We treasure the ladies and men in our community who have lost their spouses. It was an amazing experience for many in our church family and to be part of a special service just for them.
Our message from the Lord was brought to us by our Pastor Anthony from the book of Matthew 13:1-9, the Parable of the Sower. As we read from the scriptures, we had heard how the seeds fell on the hard path and birds quickly ate them. Don’t allow the enemy to eat your seeds!
This brought us to the key points the pastor shared with us.
Open Your Heart- Keep mind and hearts open to God.
Deepen Your Heart! Discipleship is needed to help you stay deeply rooted in a personal relationship with God. A joy that endures trials and is not shallow.
Cut Out Distracting Thorns- These are choking you, Identify the things you need to cut out of your life that distract or take you away from God.
Hearts That Flourish- seeds that fell on fertile soil where they produced a good crop. Hearts that embrace the WORD of GOD will produce thirty, to sixty hundred times what was sown. Live out your faith visibly. Jesus gave the ultimate sacrifice- Going to the cross for you.
As we closed the service we were reminded of Matthew 6:19-20 Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. NIV
Join us in person at Life Ministries for one of our two services every Sunday at 9AM & 10:45 AM or live online @ 10:45 AM. The address: 1309 East Ohio Street Clinton Missouri. Or visit us at www.lifeministries.church for an online experience. This Wednesday night there will be no services due to Thanksgiving holiday.

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church
“Come and See” Sunday
December 1st at 10:00 AM
St. Paul’s Episcopal church invites you to join us for the First Sunday of Advent on Sunday, December 1st at 10:00 AM.
As many churches do, Episcopalians celebrate Advent as a season of preparation and expectation for the coming celebration for the birth of Christ. We mark the four Sundays of Advent by lighting a candle in an Advent wreath, and hear each week readings on hope, peace, joy, and love as we prepare our hearts and minds for the true celebration of Christmas. This preparation and expectation is beyond the secular way of decorating and buying presents and preparing ourselves for the Christmas traditions we celebrate with our loved ones. This preparation reminds us that “God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him” (John 3:16, 17). We prepare for celebrating once again the birth of Christ into the world.
The Episcopal church welcomes everyone and our services are open to all and accepting of all. All means ALL. We hope you can join us for worship and fellowship afterwards, and experience the love of the Episcopal Church.

Trinity Lutheran
Some Lutherans may be a little hesitant to invite a friend to church. Why? Because in today’s plugged-in world, the Divine Service is not what most people are expecting to find. The traditional liturgy can be confusing at first for those who are unfamiliar with it. It’s designed for worship, not to entertain. It is worship, not a music concert. The Divine Service is different, but in a good way!
Sure, visitors might feel a little lost at first. Why is the pastor dressed like that? The liturgy? What’s that? Organ music? Where’s the praise band? Where are the electric guitars and drum sets? Why is there so much emphasis on confession of sins and the need for God’s forgiveness? What a downer! I don’t want to attend a church that makes me feel bad! Where is the worship leader? How come I haven’t heard any of these songs on the radio? Doesn’t the altar, baptismal font and the Christ candle at the front of church get in the way of all the musical instruments and religious dancers?
The truth is, the historic, traditional Lutheran liturgy is the best kind of evangelism. During Divine Service, we learn that God loves us. The liturgy reminds us that we sin much daily, and about our need for God’s forgiveness. In the ancient creeds we learn and confess that Jesus was born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried, but He rose from the dead and now sits at the right hand of the Father, and He will come again one day to judge both the living and the dead. Those who believe in Him and are baptized will be saved. Law and gospel. It’s a beautiful story proclaimed every Sunday.
Come and join us this Sunday and experience for yourself the power and joy of Lutheran worship and the Divine Service. The Holy Spirit will meet you there to create and strengthen your faith unto life everlasting. Amen.
Remember, an individual who says he’s a Christian but never attends church is like an individual who says he’s a Chiefs’ fan but never watches the games on television!

Valley Center United
Happy Thanksgiving! What a beautiful blue sky morning to come and worship together here on the brow of the hill! We are an open and affirming church and welcome all to come and worship with us next Sunday morning at 9 am.
We wish Theresa Mahan a very happy birthday! We thank Karen Switzer for leading us in song this morning. Next Saturday evening at 6, we will have a fellowship dinner and decorate the sanctuary for Christmas! It will be a great evening of fun and delicious food!!
Our sermon, “The Power of Giving Thanks!” reminded us that it is right and good to give thanks and to say thank you often. It is important to give thanks for those who do things for us and when we see them do things for others. It is a good feeling to show them that you appreciate what they have done.
But being grateful brings another, even deeper feeling. We are grateful for our relationships and friendships. We are grateful for the gift from the passion of Jesus and how he was crucified and rose again which gave us meaning and value. We are grateful that he forgives and loves us and separates us from our sins. We are not to worry about the past, that is all over. Jesus takes our concerns and enables them to disappear. Our fears shouldn’t consume us. He will take care of you and lead you to where we need to be.
Dear Lord, We are grateful for every day and the opportunity to help others and build our relationship with you. We give thanks for your redeeming power as you listen as we call out. It is only in our acts of compassion that we might reveal to the world that we are followers of Christ; in whose name we pray. Amen
