Calhoun Community Church
Welcome to the Good News from the Calhoun Community Church. We are a Multi-Denominational Congregation. Our church family gathers at 9:30 am for pre-church food and fellowship. This is a special time for visiting and welcoming guests as they arrive for worship. We sign cards of encouragement for our card ministry. Little Miss Kynslee Conner helped Mr Tom ring the bell at 9:45 to call our church family to worship at 10:00 am.
Our sympathy and Christian love are extended to the family and friends of Gary Taylor, who passed into the arms of Jesus recently. Others on our prayer list include Jerry Reed, Sondra Short, Chuck Marriott, Floyd and Debbie Joy, Millie Redding, Amber, Patrick and Brecklynn Dittmer, LaDawn and Dave Burson.
We pray for our military men and women and their families, as well as others in service jobs that we depend upon daily.
Joys to celebrate: The congregation was blessed with a perfect morning, after snow flurries on Saturday. The sun was shining through the large colored glass windows of our church; Carol Lane made peanut butter cookies with a Hershey Hug in the middle of each one. We are blessed by her generosity; We helped Logan Colwell celebrate his 27 th birthday by singing Happy Birthday. He was born on December 1, on the birthday of his fraternal great- grandmother, Shirley Fantz; Brylee Keller and Tucker McNeely carried the light of Christ into the sanctuary and lit the alter candles; Special music by Kerrie and Jeremy Reed, a contemporary version of “Amazing Grace”. We enjoyed a song, titled “No Greater Love’, composed and sung by Shelby Bicknell, on the guitar and accompanied by Jeremy Reed on the drums; Tucker McNeely served as usher by taking up the collection; Our Guest this morning was Jeremy Reed’s son, Jackson Reed; We are glad to know Debbie Joy continues to recover from her knee surgery; The Colwells were pleased to have their son, Jerid and grandson, Logan as visitors for the holiday; Patty and Harold Dump were happy to have relatives for the Holiday; Linda Hawkins was the guest of her grandson, Jacob Bellomy, at Fair Grove, MO, for Thanksgiving. Sue Lesmeister was a volunteer worker for the Henry County Thanksgiving Dinner, serving over 1500 meals; The Connor families were invited to Gary and Betty’s new home in Calhoun for the Holiday; Verna Walter’s granddaughter and Steve Siercks’
niece, Jara Lynn had the honor of playing young Norma on the new Chief’s Hallmark Movie; Tom and Barbara recently visited with former Pastor, Jackson Short. They found him in great spirits and wanting to visit the Calhoun Community Church in the near future.
Today was the first Sunday of the Advent Season. Pastor Reed gave a brief explanation of Advent.
Barbara and Tom Colwell lit the first candle, The Candle of Hope. and the congregation sang the Advent song. Pastor Reed’s sermon was about Joseph and his troubles and Hope for a brighter Future. The Calhoun Community Church serves Communion the first Sunday of the month.
We are a diverse Multi-Denominational group here at Calhoun Community Church. We try to have a little fun, show concern for each other and praise the Lord during our church experience. When the time arises, we try very hard to be the hands and feet of Jesus Christ in our community.
We invite you to be our guest, any Sunday and receive a blessing for your effort. Come dressed as you are comfortable and bring the children to join in the Sunday School Class during the service.

On Sunday, Pastor Pat Findley began an advent series, ‘A Weary World Rejoices’, with a message titled “Long-Expected Jesus”. In this message, Pastor Pat described the ancestry of Jesus, and offered two important Christmas reminders from Jesus’ family tree. First, Jesus’ ancestry verifies Him as the Messiah. The word ‘Messiah’ means anointed King, and God’s covenant was fulfilled through Jesus’ genealogy as being a descendant of Abraham and David.
Second, God’s offer of salvation has always been for all people. Jesus is more than anyone realized He would be. His salvation is available for everyone! Jesus’ family tree includes many backgrounds, as well as various reputations for sin. Therefore, His ancestry tells us who we can be because of who Jesus is. Jesus is the King of anyone who will have faith in Him! Find in Him the greatest gift ever given!

The Advent season is upon us as we count down to Christmas. This Sunday we focused on Hope, the hope we have in our loving God who gave us the most perfect gift in the form of His precious son, Jesus. This gift of hope is given especially for each one of us. Give praise to the giver of all good gifts.
Luke 21 verses 34 – 36 was the scripture of which Rev. Nancy Gillard’s message Hope: Christmas is Coming was taken. Gay Smith on piano blessed us with the anthem “Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence”. The first advent candle, hope, was lit by Debbie Wilson and her grandchildren.
A group of members gathered Tuesday morning to decorate the church for the Christmas Season. The beautifully decorated sanctuary always generates joy and peace. Anyone wanting to donate to the flower fund for the purchase of a poinsettia in memory or honor of a loved one is encouraged to do so. The flowers enhance the beauty of the festive décor.
Presbyterian Women will meet Friday, December 6 at 1:00 pm in Fellowship Hall. Amanda Roe from H.O.P.E. Project will speak before the lesson. The fourth bible lesson from their book study “Let Justice Roll Down” is Water Justice. All ladies of the church are invited to attend and join in the study, missions, and fellowship.
Tai Chi classes continue on Mondays and Wednesdays at 10:00 am in our Fellowship Hall. Join in the fun while you are strengthening your core and improving your balance.

“Salvation is for Everyone Who Calls on the Name of the Lord”
Pastor Anthony opened up with questions for us to consider. When was the last time you told someone about salvation? When was the last time you invited someone to church?
Continuing with the series of messages from the book of Romans we looked at Romans 10:1-13. We saw that Apostle Paul wrote that his heart’s desire was for everyone to be saved. He testified to the fact that they may be zealous for God, but was it just based on their knowledge of God, not a personal relationship with Him? Are we the same way, we know about God, but do we have that personal relationship with him?
As we continued to look into the scriptures we read on how the LAW was our guardian until Jesus came to fulfill the law. Christ is the end of the Law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.
Receive: Choose Life! The key to receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior in your heart is to be open to receive him. You choose. Verse 10 in Romans shows us that if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart you believe and are justified and it is with your mouth you confess and are saved. Choose to live for God or live for Satan. He has laid out His Plan. We are on the winning team! Everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved!
Join us in person at Life Ministries for one of our two services every Sunday at 9AM & 10:45 AM or live online @ 10:45 AM. The address: 1309 East Ohio Street Clinton Missouri. Or visit us at www.lifeministries.church for an online experience. Invite someone to church.

It was a chilly Sunday but the faithful came to worship the Lord. Clint Keeney rang the church bell. Mrs. Julia Klinefelter led in the congregational singing with Mrs. Dixie Collins playing piano. Randy Vogt and Clint Keeney collected the offering.
Matt Green filled in for Pastor Joshua Sowell to bring the sermon. The scripture passage from his sermon was from 1 John 3: 1-3. This passage tells us the wonderful love the Lord has for us, His children. Because of His great love for us, we must share that love with others and share His Gospel promise of eternal life. Share some of God’s love especially during this holiday season. Have a blessed week.
