Cole Camp Chamber met in the German Table at noon on Tuesday, October 9. Mo Made hosted and served a delicious luncheon of chicken and homemade noodles. President Dylana Fox and Secretary Kaci Harms were absent so the meeting was conducted by Roxy Viebrock.

Following routine approval of the secretary’s report and the treasurer’s report the meeting moved to reviewing the recent Oktoberfest event. The event drew the largest crowd it ever had. Food ran out early despite large amounts being prepared. The chamber finished out the day by acquiring more buns and brats locally and even the supply of beer was drained. There was lots of foot traffic all over town and many also attended the final day of the Antique Tractor Show. The Antique Tractor Club had a blockbuster event too with approximately 1,000 students from various schools touring the grounds and the craft displays. The Antique Tractor Club is selling raffle tickets on a restored '49 Ford tractor that will be given away at Pumpkinfest.

Under upcoming chamber events, lots of finalizing of the upcoming Pumpkinfest was worked out. Greg Burel from Boonslick Library announced the library is hosting pumpkin carving and decorating at the library on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday prior to the October 26 Pumpkinfest. These pumpkins can then be entered into the judging at Pumpkinfest.

Burel stated he has had a very good response to his spooky story contest and the entries will be shared on Friday evening, October 18 at the library. The library is working with the paranormal group from Sedalia and will host a ghost hunt on Saturday evening, October 19. The event will begin at the library with Britt Faaborg speaking to attendees about paranormal findings and then everyone makes their way to the Bellview Hotel on South Maple downtown for an actual tour to discover wandering spirits.

In other upcoming events it was shared the chairperson of Christbaumfest on November 23 has close to 50 vendors spots already rented and the event is nearly full. The committee does need some people to set up Christmas trees and make it more festive as it is the “Festival of Trees.”

Viebrock, chairwoman of Christkindelmarket on December 6 says she hasn’t done a lot yet but stated, “I just have to get on the phone with a lot of people and it just sort of works itself out.”

Jonathan Peterson, BCR1 Principal reminded everyone they need to get on Community Calendar and do a “reality check” before planning events so several aren’t slated for the same day.

Marge Lumpe reported Community Betterment has contacted a person to install a new light in the community bulletin board in front of Handel Haus. There was no report for the Rock Island Trail.

Good Samaritan Care Center reported they will be doing trick-or-treating at the center and hopes the community will donate candy for the residents to hand out as they enjoy seeing the little spooks in their costumes.

German Club is having its quarterly meeting Friday evening, October 18 at the Triple Creek Golf Club. It is the annual Thanksgiving dinner with Turkey, dressing, potatoes and gravy furnished by the club and everyone bring a potluck dish. The speaker is a Mr. Wilshusen.

The chamber will once more sponsor a $500 table at the Bomber’s Ball for Whiteman Base fund raiser. It is held in November and raises money to send Jr. Airmen home for the holidays that otherwise couldn’t afford to go.

The November meeting of the Cole Camp Chamber is on Tuesday evening, November 12. Happy hour begins at 6:00 PM and the food is served at 7:00 PM. It's pot luck and hopefully members will not only attend but bring their spouses.
