Commissioners Open, Review Bids For Chain Link Fence

The Benton County Commissioners opened bids for construction and installation of chain link fences at two Benton County locations at their May 28 meeting. One location was the Benton County Dispatch Center, 1231 Hirsh Parkway, Warsaw and at Antwiler Community Park/Cross Timbers Rural Fire Department Station #2, 22842 Highway CC, Edwards. The following bids were received Tri-Bar Construction, LLC in the amount of $15,581.20; White Branch Handyman Services LLC in the amount of $13,500; Corbett Construction in the amount of $48,234.87 and Robinson Fence Company, Inc. in the amount of $15,650. The Commissioners will review these bids before a final decision is reached.

The Commissioners received a Memorandum of Understanding between Bent Tree Harbor Subdivision and Benton County Central Dispatch pertaining to the activation of storm sirens in the Bent Tree Harbor area in the even of a tornado warning. The understand states that Benton Tree harbor will maintain the storm siren and be responsible for its maintenance and upkeep. Central Dispatch will activate the storm siren upon notification of a tornado warning issued by the National Weather Service or other daily authorized agency and will conduct monthly tests of this system.

Martin Equipment representative Rowdy Canon met with the Commissioners to review specification and sign paperwork for the purchase of a used backhoe for Road District #2.

Benton County Treasurer Rick Renno presented his weekly financial report and County Clerk Susan Porterfield submitted bills for approval and payment.

A telephone conference call was conducted with Larry Nelson to discuss road conditions on Bethel Avenue. Commissioner Berry indicated that maintenance in this area will be completed soon.
