Elizabeth J. “Bette” Dameron, 92, of Chilhowee, Missouri passed away Thursday, August 13, 2026 at the Bothwell Regional Medical Center in Sedalia, MO. She was born September 17, 1933 in Warrensburg, MO, the daughter of John Edward Bancroft and Mildred Francis (Smith) Bancroft.

She married James Lee “Jim” Dameron on April 20, 1957 in Chilhowee, MO. He preceded her in death on November 5, 2018.
Bette was a proud farm wife, helping Jim with whatever needed to be done on the farm. She was a member of the Chilhowee Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School and was active with Vacation Bible School for many years. She was a former member of the Shawnee Mound School Board, a long-time 4-H leader, active in the Missouri Angus Association and served on various committees for the Chilhowee Fair.

Surviving are two sons, John Dameron (Tammy), Chilhowee, MO and Eric Dameron (Peggy), Chilhowee, MO; two daughters, LeeAnn Martin (Tony), Rocheport, MO and Lisa Wickham (Doug), Knob Noster, MO; grandchildren, Aren Dameron, John Dameron (Chelsea), Whitney Smith (Travis), Justine Johns (Seth), Taryn Thornley (Derek), Abbie Dameron, Mallory Hire (Justin), Trevor Martin (Jessica), Shawn Martin (Ilise), Cooper Martin (Jessica), Caleb Wickham (Mattie) and Dylan Wickham (Hailee); great-grandchildren, Maverick, Tyson, Sydney, Luke, Alma, Eleanor, Preston, Henry, Cameron, Weston, Coleman, Wilson, Ada, June, Tilly and Whitley; one sister-in-law, Mary Belle Rowland, Dallas Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

To say she enjoyed spending time with her family would be an understatement. When her grandkids and great-grandkids would come in, she would light up.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Ann Kizer and Mary Preston.

A Celebration of Life will be at noon Friday, August 21, 2026 at the Chilhowee Baptist Church, Chilhowee, MO. Reverend David Mifflin will officiate. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to noon, just prior to the service. Burial will be in Carpenter Cemetery at a later date. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Chilhowee Baptist Church or the Agape Care Group (ACG), and these donations may be left in care of the Bradley & Hadley Funeral Home, Clinton.
