Glen E. Briggs, age 98 years, passed away June 22, 2023 at Clinton Healthcare and Rehab, Clinton, MO.
Glen Erawin Briggs was born November 15, 1924 in LaDue, MO the son of Roy and Mary (Varner) Briggs. He was a US Army Veteran serving in Europe during WWII. Over the years Glen stayed busy and active doing many things. He owned and operated a car wash and laundromat in Deepwater, drove a school bus for the Deepwater School District, and served four terms as the Southside County Commissioner/Judge in Henry County.
Glen also farmed, was part owner of Briggs Bros. Transport Services, and worked for Briggs & Tillman Oil as a tank wagon driver. He loved woodworking, and doing yardwork-still mowing his yard at the age of 98!
Glen was preceded in death by his parents, wife Robina, and 3 siblings; Uel and Lester Briggs, and Wilma McKeaigg.
Survivors include 3 children; Jerry Briggs (Judy) of Lee’s Summit, MO, Michael Briggs of Deepwater, MO, and Glenda Sapp (Bill) of Lee’s Summit, MO, 3 grandchildren; Teresa Moore, Jennifer Wilson (Brent), and Colt Briggs (Jaime), as well as 7 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are 6 siblings; Clyde Briggs, Jim Briggs, Shelby Briggs, Esther Singer, Bonnie Winter and Shirley Murphy, along with a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held June 27, 2023 at the Vansant-Mills Chapel, Clinton with Rev. David Mills officiating. Special music included “Old Rugged Cross.” The casket bearers were Jason Briggs, Kevin Briggs, Luke Wilson, Keith Winter, Quin Wilson and Joe Murphey. Anthony Moore, Larry McKeaigg and Colt Briggs were honorary bearers. Interment followed in Englewood Cemetery, Clinton, MO.
Services were under the direction of Vansant-Mills Funeral Home of Clinton, MO.
