1) What was the team record goal for this upcoming season?
TC-The goal this year is to take a five man team to state. We have some fantastic golfers, with two of them being able to place in the top 10 if not.
2) What do you do outside of practice to further build relationships with team members?
TC-Being that I love to golf, we will golf on the weekends, it helps them get over being nervous and it is a great way to spend your day.
3) How often do you practice and how long is that said practice?
TC-We typically practice 5 days a week for about 1 1/2 to 2 hours, I try to divide practice up into sections, Putting, Bunker work, chipping, and then form 100-150 yards out.
4) What do you have to say about your coaching staff?
TC-I don’t have one
5) How do you motivate your team as a whole or a member that is feeling down about a tournament or poor performance at practice?
TC-This happens a lot, Golfers will make a bad shot and get really upset with themselves over it, They don’t want to let their team down and they also know they can do better than that, it’s all about having them buckle down and play the golf they can play. Each player is different, some need a lot of guidance and others just need to hear words of encouragement.
6) Would you rather play a tournament at home or away? WHY?
TC-I would rather play at other courses. It exposes our golfers to different challenges, I think we get comfortable when we play one course a lot. I like to get out and challenge each player and their abilities. This will help them in life and their game.
7) How do you plan get your team reset after losing a tournament?
TC-I don’t plan on losing this year!!! We have a great team with some really experienced players. I have several developmental players that will fill in when the Seniors graduate. This is a team that has tremendous potential, I just hope I am up to the task of getting them there.
8) As a coach what is your favorite part about the job?
TC-The pure enjoyment of watching them succeed, the interaction with others who are just as passionate about the game of golf as I am.
