Garnett (GA) Salmon, Creighton, a retired Henry County farmer/rancher, was awarded a quilt on April 25 by the Quilts of Valor Foundation in Butler, Missouri. Mr. Salmon served in the USMC 1969-1971 during the Vietnam War. He was nominated for this honor by Bob Stahl of Goshen, Indiana who also served in the USMC at that time.
The Quilts of Valor Foundation began in 2003 to award service members who have been touched by war. To date, over 410,000 handmade or machine sewn quilts have been awarded to service members across the nation.
