Raymond Edward Brooks, 80 of Pleasant Hill, Missouri passed away on Sunday, November 12, 2023, at his home.
He was born Monday, October 18, 1943, to the late Joseph Brooks and the late Ethel (Parris) Brooks. He attended Swain County High School in Bryson City, North Carolina. In 1963 he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served his country proudly during the Vietnam War. He married Julianna (Schweiss) Weber Brooks on June 12, 1993; they spent 30 happy years together. Raymond worked for Associated Groceries for 30 years and owned a motel in Warsaw, MO for 7 years. He loved fishing and traveling to Canada.
He is survived by his wife, Julianna Brooks of the home; children, Mark (Jennifer) Brooks of Lee's Summit, MO, Kelly Burroughs of Lee's Summit, Carrie Brooks of Liberty, MO; step-children, Shane (Teri) Weber of Kansas City, MO, Sharise Weber of Austin, TX, Angie Weber of Kansas City, Tracy (Chad) of Lenexa, KS; brothers, Kim (Mindy) Brooks of Praire Village, KS, Wayne (Lisa) Brooks of Holden, MO; sister-in-laws, Debi Brooks, Donna Brooks; grandchildren, Joshua (Jessie) Brooks of Marietta, GA, Johanna Brooks of Kansas City, Brooke McCracken of Lenexa, KS, Tyler Soligo of Liberty; step-grandchildren, David (Kim) Weber of Kansas City, Victoria (Micah) Smith of Kansas City. Brandon Weber of Loveland, CO, Brittni (Derrick) Johnson of Austin, TX, Christian (Valerie) Whistler of Chesapeake, VA, Alexandria Whistler of Lathrop, MO, Tiffany (Eli) Cardenas of Overland Park, KS, Christopher Ogren of Albuquerque, NM, Nicholas Ogren of Fayetteville, AR; great-grandchildren, Paxton Goodwin, Emery Brooks; and eighteen step great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Russell Brooks, Gerald Brooks, Roger Brooks; step-sister, Thersia Eaton.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM on Monday, November 20, 2023, at Stewart-Hoefer Funeral Home, 1600 Main St. Higginsville, Missouri. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM. Interment with military honors will be in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville, MO. Casket bearers: Joshua Brooks, David Weber, Micah Smith, Christian Whistler, Christopher Ogren, Nicholas Ogren.
