Samuel Albert “Sam” Leipard, 88, of Clinton, Missouri passed away Monday, July 13, 2026 at Adair Village in Clinton, MO. He was born February 8, 1938 in Platte City, MO, the son of Samuel Antone Leipard and Lorraine (Anderson) Leipard.
Sam was self employed in the drywall construction industry for 40 years. He retired from that and had a lawn mowing service for the next 20 years. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where he served in numerous positions and capacities. He graduated from Lee’s Summit High School in 1956. When Sam wasn’t working, he was working. He enjoyed his work and took great pride in his accomplishments. His hobbies included boating, water skiing and bike riding. Sam was a doer and a helper. He lived to help people, whatever it was they needed. He looked forward to serving home made ice cream at various social events. He enjoyed Branson and the Branson shows.
Surviving are one son, Stephen F. Leipard (Julie), Alton, Illinois; two daughters, Sarah Lankford (Darin), Clinton, MO and Samantha Day (AJ), Clinton, MO; nine grandchildren, Trent Lankford, Luke Lankford (Morgan), Jack Lankford (Alaina), Gracie Lankford, Nevaeh Wright, Mackenzie Day, Darrian Connoyer, Rylen Smith and Jaxen Smith; four great-grandchildren, Alli, Tanner, Julian and August; one brother, Joe Leipard, Gardner, Kansas; one sister-in-law, Pat Leipard, Columbia, MO; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Sam was lovingly known to many as “Grandpa Sam”.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Shad Edward Leipard on May 11, 1990; three sister, Teresa May, Bonnie Louise and Lydia Marie; and one brother, Jesse Leipard.
A Celebration of Life will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 25, 2026 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Clinton. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., just prior to the Celebration. A finger food luncheon will be provided for all those wanting to stay and share stories and visit following the Celebration of Life service.
