The Montrose VFW will have a flag retirement ceremony at 8:00 p.m. June 12, outside the VFW Hall on Montrose’s Main Street (Missouri Ave.). Flags may be left in the receptacle on the sidewalk between the VFW Hall and City Hall or brought to the ceremony that evening. There will be a Poppy Drive and recruiting event immediately following.
The next Meet Me On Main, Second Wednesday Shop and Stroll will be June 11, 2025, from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Participating businesses include: Jina’s Junque, 3 Wishes, 4th Street Fika, Bluebird Lounge, Bulldogs Nutrition, Cork & Keg, Sandi’s Kitchen, and AC TNR.
The AC Carousel is open Friday- Sunday 4:00 -7:00 p.m. through Labor Day. Rules are posted at acmogov.com.
The Knights of Columbus will have their monthly pancake and sausage breakfast at the Knight’s Hall in Montrose on Sunday, June 8 from 8:30 – 10:00 a.m. Treat your family to a hot breakfast you don’t have to cook or clean up. A free will donation will be greatly appreciated
The 21st Annual Appleton City Car Show will be July 12 in the City Park, right off 52 Hwy across the street from Zink Motor Company. Check in 8:00 a.m.-noon. Car Show noon-3:00 p.m. This is a judged event. There is a $10 entry fee, with proceeds going to two scholarships for local high school students. Top 85 cars and trucks combined, top 3 motorcycles, and top 3 rat rods. There will be food concessions, music, goody bags, live auction, door prizes, 50-50 drawing and dash plaques for all entries. Along with the AC Car Show, Zink Motor Co (across from the Car Show) is hosting the KC Antique Car Club at their dealership. Model A’s and T’s will be on display. This event is free.
The Ellett Memorial Hospital Foundation is selling raffle tickets for its annual Raffle. Buy a ticket for $10 or 4 for $20 for a chance to win one of four great prizes. Tickets can be purchased from Foundation members or at the EMH Front Desk. Raffle drawing will take place at the AC Car Show.
Free private tennis lessons are offered to anyone at the tennis courts at Donnohue-Dugan Park. Rackets and balls will be provided. MU Extension is partnering with MU Healthcare to provide an opportunity for residents to learn strategies to promote the safety of older adults behind the wheel and reframe their mindset around retiring from driving. “Keep Your Keys” is a one-time 2-hour program dedicated to offering comprehensive insights and practical advice on prioritizing safety and planning for driving retirement on a temporary or permanent basis. Participants will conduct a self-assessment regarding their ability to drive. Participants receive a booklet to keep with resources and information including a transportation plan. Factors that may impact driving: decreased flexibility and strength, decline in vision and/or hearing, cognitive issues and medication interactions. This program is a must-attend for anyone committed to aging well and living life to the fullest. Don’t miss this opportunity to equip yourself with the knowledge and tools necessary for a vibrant, healthy future.
