The ACHS FCCLA is sponsoring a carryout “Kickin Chicken” dinner fundraiser 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. (or until sold out) Sunday June 9 with pickup in the high school commons area. The menu includes 2 pieces of chicken, cheesy potatoes, corn and a dinner roll for $15. Appleton City Saturday Street Festivals begin June 22. The city of AC is looking for vendors of crafts, products, arts and food for the events. If you offer it, the city wants to help you sell it. If you are doing a fundraiser, they want to help you raise your funds. Booth space is $25.00 and registration forms are available at City Hall. They will have many downtown business open, vendors and food on Main Street and entertainment later in the City Park. The 2024 dates are June 22, July 20, Augusts 24, September 21 and October 9. They are also looking for committee volunteers. If you are interested in helping put together the monthly Saturday Festival or have ideas, please contact City Hall at 660-476-2631.
Saturday, June 22, Jonny Koch and the Tightwad Troubadours, with special guest, Rhonda Meyer will perform on the Park stage 5:00-8:00 p.m.
St. Clair Historical Society invites you to “Flags of the Revolutionary Period” by James Scott 7:00 p.m. June 13 upstairs of the St. Clair Co Museum 660 Main St. in Osceola. (This building is not handicap friendly.) Refreshments will be served and everyone is welcome.
Zion Lutheran and Rich Hill Christian Churches are sponsoring a fundraiser for Jacob and Alli Rapp June 16 at the Rich Hill School Dome. There will be a free will donation meal of smoked chicken, brisket, hot dogs, sides and dessert 11:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. There will also be silent, live and online auctions and a raffle. T-shirts are available for pre-order for $15 (contact TJ Black at 660-441-7739).
The Knights of Columbus will have their monthly pancake and sausage breakfast at the Knight’s Hall in Montrose on Sunday, June 9 from 8:30 – 10:00 a.m. Treat your family to a hot breakfast you don’t have to cook or clean up. A free will donation will be greatly appreciated
The AC Carousel is open weekends (Friday – Sunday) 4:00-7:00 p.m. through Labor Day. Rules will be posted at acmogov.com.
The ACHS Alumni Scholarship Foundation awarded $21,000 to seven graduating seniors. This money comes from donations received for that purpose, which may be sent to Lori Bartz, 14378 NE County Road 4, ACMO 64724. Questions may be directed to Linda Lampkin 660-492-0131.
The Appleton City Museum at 503 N. Maple is now open every Friday afternoon 1:30-4:30 p.m. Bring your friends and family to visit the 1880 Moore School, the Clark House and the Museum to learn about early day area history. Membership dues for the 2024-2025 year may be paid at this time at $15 individual and $25 family. Please support your museum with a membership and a visit this summer.
The 20th Annual Appleton City Car Show will be July 13 in the City Park, right off 52 Hwy across the street from Zink Motor Company. Check in 8:00 a.m.-noon. Car Show noon-3:00 p.m. This is a judged event. There is a $10 entry fee, with proceeds going to two scholarships for local high school students. Top 85 cars and trucks combined, top 3 motorcycles, and top 3 rat rods.
Zink Motor Co is hosting the KC Antique Car Club at their dealership. Model A’s and T’s will be on display. This event is free.
The AC Fire Department will have a free vintage fire truck and fire equipment show July 13 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the AC Fire Station.
AC Rural Health Clinic will be providing Free Sports Physicals for students entering grades 7th-12th in the upcoming 2024-2025 school year. Sports Physical Clinics are scheduled for June 12 and June 26, 2024. Appointments are REQUIRED and appointment spots are limited. Phil and Pam Morgan, Gospel music recording artists, will be performing at River of Life Fellowship in Rockville, MO, 6:00 p.m. Sunday, June 2 as part of their on-going “AMEN” Ministry Tour. The multimedia presentation combines close family harmony with accomplished instrumentals for a fun, motivational experience.
