USCG Auxiliary Commandant Letter Of Commendation Awarded To Clintonian

Karen Pearson of Clinton, a volunteer member of the United States Coast Guard (USCG) Auxiliary, at an awards ceremony with Perry Lake Flotilla 31-09, Perry Kansas on 2 May 2023 received the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Commandant Letter of Commendation Award in recognition for outstanding Service in support of the USCG Auxiliary. The Award was from CDR Matt Schibler, USCG. Presenting the award was Pamela Chaffee, Perry Lake Flotilla Commander.
Karen Pearson was commended for her outstanding performance of duty. By her meritorious service she upheld the highest traditions of the USCG and the USCG Auxiliary. Her altruism promoted and heightened the visibility, reputation, and success of the Western Rivers Region’s Coast Guard Auxiliary. She provided logistical support to the Active Duty at the Leavenworth Coast Guard Station, along with her husband Dennis Pearson from April 2018 to December 2020. She demonstrated superior pride and dedication to the USCG, and went above and beyond with supporting the Active Duty.
The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary is a nonprofit all-volunteer organization. It is the uniformed civilian component of the U.S. Coast Guard. It was founded in 1939 by an Act of Congress as the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve, and designated as the Auxiliary in 1941. The Auxiliary directly supports the Coast Guard in all missions, except military and direct law enforcement actions.
Membership is open to any citizen 17 years of age or older. Sea Scouts may join when they are 14 years old. The amount of participation is a member’s decision.
