34th Annual County-wide Thanksgiving Dinner Planned

Posted

Thanksgiving is one week away and the Community Turkey Talkers Committee needs help to feed 1200 Henry County neighbors! Please make a commitment to help others this year.
Only 42 of the 100 turkeys needed have been donated and we only have 99 of 250 pies donated. One big change this year, you can buy a couple of turkey breasts (8-10 pounds) and
bake them and bring them if you don’t want to bake a big turkey. Also, if you can carve the turkey and bring it in a disposable pan, that also helps.
A big thanks to the Clinton Senior Center as they allow us to cook and deliver the meals out of their facility. And, the Knights of Columbus graciously carve the 100 turkeys for the event. The Eagles Lodge provides the space and volunteers for the eat-in meal 12:30-2pm on Thanksgiving. And, an additional 200 local volunteers donate money, food and time to the holiday meal.
Lisa Wallace urges, “We really need help! We need more turkey bakers and helpers.
Volunteers are not calling at the same pace as previous years. Since we plan to feed 1200, we need 100 turkeys and we only have 42 so far.” Scott Brooks, coordinator of reservations and volunteers encourages, “If you are able to help, please call the Clinton Flower Shop so we don’t panic.”
The committee needs volunteers and donations for 250 pumpkin or apple pies, 50 drivers to deliver meals, 22 people to help on Thanksgiving Day, 6 people to wash dishes on Wednesday night and Thanksgiving Day, and 100 volunteers to purchase and bake 14-16 pound turkeys or equivalent turkey breasts.
If you are willing to donate food, money or your time, let us know today! Call the Clinton Flower Shop at 885-6921 to let us know what you can do to help or if you have questions.
