City Of Clinton Looks Ahead To Memorial Day

Clinton City Council members gathered on Tuesday April 16 in regular session. The group received a report from the Public Works Committee that included information on the McClane Chapel roof. Delivery of roofing materials is ahead of schedule. The contractor has a planned start date of April 29 with a projected completion date of May 17. The City will arrange for a cleaning service to clean the interior of the building following completion.
In preparation for Memorial Day, The City is soliciting quotes for contract mowing assistance for the week before Memorial Day weekend. Other business included waste water reports where it was learned that the Calvird Pump Station upgrade is underway and going well. Antioch Park will see the installation of culverts and headwalls beginning at the end of this month.
Election results received certification. A resolution was adopted accepting the certified returns of the County Clerk for the General Municipal City Election held on April 2. This included an ordinance imposing a Public Safety Sales Tax in the City of Clinton at the rate of one-half of one percent for the purpose of funding public safety. City Clerk Wendee Seaton read the Oath of Office to newly elected officials. They included: War 1 Council Person Gary Mount, Ward 2 Council Person Greg Shannon, Ward 3 Council Person Cameron Jackson and Ward 4 Council Person Gene Henry. All will have a term of two years.
Mayor Carla Moberly made appointments to Standing Committees. Public Safety: Austin Jones, Stacia Wilson and Greg Shannon. Public Works: Cameron Jackson, Roger House and Shelley Nelson. Finance: Carla Moberly, Gary Mount and Gene Henry.
There was not any new business placed on the agenda and thus the meeting adjourned. The next Clinton City Council meeting will be held on May 7 at 6:00 PM at City Hall. All are welcome to attend.
