It was another up and down week for the Cardinals baseball squad as they experienced the high of a big win but also the low of a big loss.
On Wednesday, Will Golder collected 4 hits in 5 trips to the plate as Clinton soundly defeated Appleton City with a 13-5 final.
Golder doubled in the third, singled in the second and sixth innings and then topped off his big night with another double in the seventh.

The Cardinals tagged Appleton City for 4 more runs in the top of the third to make it 7-0 and the game tightened up after the sixth when the scoreboard read 8-5, yet still in favor of the good guys.
However, Clinton managed to pull away in the top of the seventh when they scored 5 runs on 2 hits. Kanden LaFarge drew a walk, scoring 1 run; Golder's second double of the game drove in 1 run, Jack English hit into a fielder's choice, but plated 2 more runs and the Cardinals rally ended after Kaiden Townsend grounded out but forced in Clinton's last run for the 13-5 final.
The Cardinals racked up 12 hits in the contest.
Golder paced the offense with his 4 hits. He also picked up 2 RBI's and scored twice himself.
Balke went 3 for 3 in the game and also drew 2 walks. He finished with 1 RBI and 1 run.
