Posted

The first annual Olde Glory Days Disc Golf Open had 55 contestants come to Clinton to take on our local course at Artesian Park. The players came from 30 different cities from KC to Springfield. The tournament was affiliated with the PDGA (Professional Disc Golf Association), with the tournament Directors being Russ Burns and Jon Parsons both from the Joplin area. Russ’s website is Discgolfmonkey.com, or go to UDisc.com for more information. It was a hot day with some winds that only occasionally helped with the heat. The tournament was sponsored by the Clinton Chamber of Commerce and the Tourism Committee. Several locals helped with the tournament, including, Micah Noble, David Lee, and Tim Komer. Many other volunteers helped with the check-in, setting up the course, running the raffle, etc. There were 10 divisions, two pro, and eight amateur. The pro division wins cash prizes. There was $1,600 in the Pro Purse. They played two 18-hole rounds. Many players said they liked the course and hope to come back. The following are the top winners in each division.
Results: Mixed Pro Brady Brown -15, Micah Noble -11, Mix Pro (Seniors): Ray Presnell -2, (MA) Mixed Amateur Level 1: Matt Williams -5, Will Stiles -3, MA 50+: Darrin Dodson +9, MA 60+ Brady Hilton +5.
