GRAND TIME Gets Underway As Olde Glory Days Marks Milestone

The planning and preparation is all but in the books and folks are looking forward to the “Thrills and Cheers for 30 Years” rendition of Olde Glory Days this week in downtown Clinton.
This year’s events kicked off on Tuesday night with the annual Veteran’s Dinner at the Elks Lodge where veterans and one guest were served a fabulous meal by Elks Lodge #1034 and VFW Post #1894.
On Thursday from 4:00 PM-8:00 PM, the Information Booth and Souvenir Shop will be open on the south side of the courthouse. From 5:00 PM-11:00 PM the Clinton Police Officer’s Association will host their annual beer garden on the courthouse lawn. At 5:30 PM, grab your co-workers and head over to the courthouse lawn for this year’s Office Olympics. The Toddler Tent and Bounce House will be on the northeast side of the courthouse from 6:00 PM-8:00 PM and the carnival will be open from 6:00 PM until 10:00 PM. Carnival wristbands are just $25 if purchased before June 29 or $30 if purchased after that date. At 6:45 PM the Fishin’ Magicians, a humorous mix of magic and mystery will take the stage and at 7:30 PM it’s The Birdman and Co, providing the very best in educational wildlife entertainment. At 8:00 PM, The Bubbler brings his talents to town where fans will see small bubbles, big bubbles, bubbles inside bubbles and much more!
Friday will begin with Kayak Races at the Artesian Pool beginning at 10:00 AM and from 10:00 AM-4:00 PM the Henry County Museum welcomes guests with free admission. From 10:00 AM until 6:00 PM there will be an Art Show at the DeLozier Building and the Golden Valley Quilter’s Guild will have a table set up selling raffle tickets for a quilt. The Information Booth and Souvenir Shop will be open from 10:00 AM until 8:00 PM on Friday and at 11:00 AM it’s the FireQuacker 500 at Optimist Park. The beer garden will again be open on the courthouse lawn, 11:00 AM-Midnight. The carnival will be open from 12:00 PM-4:00 PM and again from 6:00 PM-10:00 PM. From 12:00 PM-5:00 PM the Toddler Tent and Bounce House will be open on the northeast side of the courthouse. At 2:00 PM the TLC Dulcimers will perform at the DeLozier Building. Near the bandstand, at 12:00 PM and again at 4:30 PM, The Circus Science Spectacular will bring an innovative and entertaining educational experience to the crowd, using a magical world of circus. At 12:45 PM, 3:00 PM and again at 5:15 PM, The Fishin’ Magicians take the stage once again. On the courthouse parking lot, The Birdman and Co will have performances at 1:30 PM, 3:45 PM and 5:45 PM. Registration for the Pedal Pull begins at 3:00 PM with the contest beginning at 4:00 PM on the square. Classes are 5 and under, 6 and 7, 8 and 9, 10 and 11. From 5:30 PM until 7:30 PM, the historical DX Station at 3rd and Green Street will be open. The Bubbler appears on the courthouse lawn again at 6:00 PM and at 6:00 PM on the main stage, it’s Jake Gill singing yesterday and today’s country hits! At 6:30 PM the Golf Ball Drop will go down on the lawn of the Chamber of Commerce and at 8:10 PM there’ll be prize drawings on the main stage. Friday will be capped with The Kay Brothers taking the main stage at 9:00 PM with “olde time Missouri stompgrass”!
Saturday’s festivities kick off with registration for the OGD Patriotic 5K/Fun Run at 6:30 AM and the race will begin at 7:30 AM. There will be a pancake breakfast at the Clinton Fire Department from 7:00 AM-9:30 AM and from 9:00 AM-3:00 PM a motorcycle show will take over South Washington Street. From 9:00 AM-4:00 PM, Downtown DeSoto will be open on South Washington Street showing off the car collection of Jim and Becky Raysik. At 10:00 AM it’s the “David Mills” Grand Parade with Vickie Moreland serving as this year’s Grand Marshal. From 10:00 AM-4:00 PM the Art Show will be open and the Henry County Museum will also be open during those same hours. The beer garden will be open from 11:00 AM-Midnight and the carnival will be open with two sessions; 12:00 PM-4:00 PM and 6:00 PM-10:00 PM. The Toddler Tent and Bounce House will be open again from 12:00 PM-5:00 PM and the Information Booth and Souvenir Shop will be open from 12:00 PM-8:00 PM. From the 12:30 PM-5:00 PM the Historical DX Station will be open once again. At 1:00 PM the Clinton Elks Lodge will host their Cornhole Tournament, behind the lodge on the north side of the square. The StoneLion Puppets, “Bubba and Trixie” will perform at the Children’s Corner Theatre at the DeLozier Building at 1:30 PM and 2:30 PM and at 2:00 PM, folks can escape the heat with another show by TLC Dulcimers inside the DeLozier Building. At 2:00 PM Heartland Community Theatre presents “Senimental Journey: A Return To Those Thrilling Days Of Yesteryear”, a live radio variety show. The Circus Science Spectacular, The Fishin’ Magicians and The Birdman and Co will have multiple performances throughout the afternoon before the Main Stage kicks off at 6:00 PM with Disco Dick and the Mirror Balls, the nation’s #1 disco experience! At 8:05 PM the Clinton Rotary Club will announce their 50/50 giveaway winner and at 8:10 PM there’ll be more prize drawings on the Main Stage. Saturday night will cap with The Rock Gods, a tribute band to rock and roll’s most iconic stars at 9:00 PM.
As the carnival packs up to head to their next destination on Sunday, folks can attend the Clinton Christian Church Ice Cream Social at the Benson Center at 5:00 PM. From 5:30 PM-8:30 PM, Benton Center hosts Gospel Fest, featuring Tony Bullock, Ivan Parker, Spoken 4 Quartet and The LeFevre Quartet.
This year’s 30th celebration of Olde Glory Days will culminate with a mega-fireworks display at approximately 9:30 PM on Sunday night. The show will be synchronized with music on 95.3 KDKD.
