Lady Bluebirds Rally For Decisive Win Over Lincoln

Posted

Cole Camp junior Marilyn Hesse is quickly becoming a force on the volleyball court. Hesse and 5'11" sophomore Andrea Dieckman were instrumental in Cole Camp's three straight set defeat of Lincoln on Tuesday night at home; 25-11, 25-13 and 25-8.

Lincoln started out strong in the second set leading 3-0 but the Lady Bluebirds height advantage at the net, (30 some kills on the night) and impressive digs quickly took over.

Hesse ended the night with 12 kills, Mandy Goosen had 5 kills and 9 digs and Leah Allison had 5 kills and 7 digs. The towering Dieckman had 5 kills and 11 blocks.

Lincoln stats were unavailable. Rebekah Helland, Emaire Eckhoff, Camryn Smallwood, Cadence Harvey, Alyssa Mellen, Braylin Paxton and libero Sydney Spry started for Lincoln.

Cole Camp's JV won in 2 of 3 sets. Lincoln's JH, both A and B teams, were victorious so there is help on the way.

Cole Camp lost in three competitive sets 25-23, 25-11 and 25-23 on Monday night on the road at Versailles. Hesse had 10 kills and 11 digs. Madilynn Ogle had 14 digs.

Cole Camp head coach Abby Massingill commented, "The loss of early games on our schedule due to the Cole Camp Fair hurt us. We are now coming into our own. We ran into a big time hitter at Versailles. We should be pretty good come district time."

On Thursday, Cole Camp hosted a good Stover squad which featured All-State senior Ashlyn Pinzke, junior Maycee Burton and 6'2" senior Kiley Simon. Stover won in four sets; 25-10, 25-11, 16-25 and 25-20.

Andrea Dieckman had 13 kills and 5 blocks. Mandy Goosen had 11 kills and 8 blocks and Marilyn Hesse came in with 9 kills and 15 digs. Liv Pilante had 17 assists and 13 digs.

Cole Camp fell to 4-6 while Stover moved to 11-3-1.
