Lila June McQuitty, 93, formerly of Clinton and Lee’s Summit, Mo., passed away in Mountain Grove, Mo., on Sunday afternoon, August 6, 2023. She was born in Tightwad, Mo., the daughter of Otto McCurley and Lydia Jane (Lawler) McCurley.
Lila June was a mother and caregiver first and foremost. Her birthday doll cakes and wedding cakes were stunning. She could have sewn professionally had she wished, but she lovingly showered her creations on her daughters.
Harold, her husband, was the love of her life. She has missed him sorely. Her daughters take comfort in imagining them strolling the streets of heaven, hand in hand. God is truly good.
Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren always felt “seen” and cared for. Each one was an individual to her.
She will be missed by her two daughters and their husbands; five grandchildren and their spouses; thirteen great-grandchildren; and scores of family and friends.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 19, 2023 at the Bradley & Hadley Funeral Home, Clinton. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., just prior to the funeral service. Mrs. McQuitty will lie in state from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 18, 2023 at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Englewood Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Parkinson’s Foundation, and these donations may be left in care of the funeral home.
