Mark C. Smith age 51 passed away on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at his home in Clinton, Missouri.
Mark Christopher Smith was born in July of 1971 in Independence, Missouri. He attended Lakeland public Schools and earned an Associates degree in Machine Tool from State Fair Community College.
He was married to his wife Loretta for 28 years. Mark was a machinist and he taught adult machine tool classes at one time. He also volunteered with the Tightwad Fire Department and he became a member of the Parks Chapel Baptist Church.
Mark is survived by his wife, Loretta Smith of Clinton, Missouri, two children, Nickolas Smith (Alyssa Tucker), Breanna Smith (Jordan Snethen), three sisters,
Belle Spencer, Shelly Siercks (Steve), Robin Coonrod, and one brother, Brian Oles (Angela). And his faithful buddy, Apollo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Elizabeth Smith, one brother Popeye (Steve) Oles, one niece Rachel Parrish, and one nephew Justin Baumgarden.
Funeral services were held April 4, 2023 at the Vansant-Mills Chapel, Clinton with Rev. Brad Elmer officiating. Special music included “I’ll Fly Away and How Great Thou Art.” The casket bearers were Aaron McNeely, Dan Green, Jeremy Smith, Eric McNeely, Jamie Foster and Daniel Anspaugh. John Glenn, Chris Sperry, Milton Houk and Randy Howell were honorary bearers. Interment followed in Englewood Cemetery, Clinton, MO.
Services were under the direction of Vansant-Mills Funeral Home of Clinton, MO.
