McQueen's Celebrate 60 Years Of Family Reunions

Posted

For more than 60 years the descendants of Abel “Ellsworth” McQueen and Nellie Briggs McQueen have gathered on the 4th Sunday in July to catch up on family news, reminisce and exchange stories about life and reunions in the past. Having missed only a single year during the covid pandemic, the group again congregated on Sunday, July 23, in the community room at Cloy Estates. In addition to our regular attendees (Brenda Glass, Karla Glass Barnes, Donna Ebersole Kingsolver and Ed Ebersole represented the Mary Nadine McQueen Glass family, Denver Siercks, Denise Siercks and Deanna Siercks Hon representied the Sarah Rhoda McQueen Siercks family, Jamie Hunsucker Faudere, Dan Hunsucker, Callie Hunsucker and Morgan Hunsucker represented the Alice Oletta McQueen Yearout family and Sharon McQueen Black represented the Joseph Charles McQueen family) we were excited to welcome newcomers to our reunion, Kristen Stoudt and daughters Olivia Stoudt and Talia Stoudt, who represented the William Herbert McQueen branch of our family tree. Special guest (and now an honorary member of the McQueen family) was Dee Parish who, along with her husband Chris, are the owners of “Uncle Andy’s House.”
There was a great deal of sharing interesting information about McQueen family history, and Kristen brought along fascinating show-and-tell memorabilia.
It was decided that next year’s reunion would be held at Farrington Park in Windsor, the park having been the venue for about 50 such gatherings. We would also like to extend an invitation to other branches of Andy’s and Sarah’s family to join us.
