Patricia A. Snyder (Pat), age 90, peacefully passed away on April 12, 2023, in Kansas City surrounded by her loving family. Pat was born in Wichita, Kansas to Edwin and Elsie Hunter. She attended Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma and Sterling College in Sterling, Kansas where she received a degree in music education. Pat taught elementary school music for twenty-four years in Lyons, Kansas.
Pat married Don E. Snyder in May of 1953. They resided in Lyons, Kansas for 45 years where they raised their four children. After retirement, Pat and Don moved to Clinton, Missouri. Pat was actively involved in both the Lyons and Clinton communities. She was a member of the Methodist Church in both towns and served in music ministry as choir member and hand bell choir director. Pat also enjoyed memberships in Sweet Adeline’s choral group, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Lorna Kemper Club, Twilight Garden Club, Golden Valley Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, and Spirit Lifters singing group.
Pat is preceded in death by her husband Don. She is survived by daughter Donna Talley (Tom) of Eden Prairie, Minnesota, daughter Sandy Widmer (Burt) of Casper, Wyoming, daughter Mary Snyder (Yvonne) of Houston, Texas, and son Bruce (Cindy) of Prairie Village, Kansas. Pat was blessed with eleven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 2, 2023 at the Vansant-Mills Chapel in Clinton, Missouri. A private family inurnment will be later in the Englewood Cemetery, Clinton, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to St. Joseph’s Indian School, P.O. Box 326, Chamberlain, SD 57326 or can be left in care of the funeral home.
