Phyllis Richey, age 77, of Clinton, Missouri passed away on Saturday, September 2, 2023 at Clinton Healthcare and Rehab Center in Clinton, Missouri. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 9
Phyllis Jean Jacobs Richey was born on March 23, 1946 in Creighton, Missouri, the youngest daughter of Orva Claude and Margie Lee Yates Jacobs. Phyllis lived her entire life within a short distance of her birthplace where she was known and loved by family and friends. She lived the majority of her life in the Urich and Clinton area.
At a young age she was baptized in a Christian church in Pleasant Hill, Missouri. Phyllis was an honest hard-working individual who strived to do her best for those she worked with at Golden Valley Memorial Hospital where she spent 30 years in Dietary. Long lasting bonds of friendship were formed with co-workers. She retired in 2011 to be with her longtime companion Jackie Fuller in his last illness.
On April 11, 1966, Phyllis married James Kenneth Buckley in K.C., Missouri. To this union one daughter was born, Alice May in 1967. They divorced in 1979. Phyllis then devoted herself to Alice, encouraging her to become all she could be.
In 1982 Phyllis married Maurice Richey, for a short duration.
In 1986 Phyllis was reunited with her high school sweetheart, Jackie Fuller, they had 25 happy years together before his illness took him away. They enjoyed short vacations spending time in various casinos and just being in one another’s company.
Phyllis was preceded in death by both parents; a sister Donita Embree; and a baby brother Jerry Jacobs.
She is survived by her two daughters: Alice May (Buckley) Trager and husband Cliff of Parkville, Missouri, grandchildren Jordan, Mallory and Caitlyn of K.C., Missouri, Cindy Lee (Wilson) Gregory and husband Zeke of Inverness, Florida and grandson Dylan Wilson of K.C., Missouri, along with one great granddaughter and one great grandson, one sister Frances Schmidli of Windsor, Missouri, six nieces and one nephew and their families. Phyllis leaves these family members and many friends who will miss her happy spirit.
Funeral services were held Sat. Sept. 9, 2023 at the Vansant-Mills Chapel, Clinton, MO with Rev. David Mills officiating. Special music included “Old Rugged Cross, Amazing Grace and Jesus Loves Me.” Interment followed in Mullin Cemetery, Urich, MO.
Services were under the direction of Vansant-Mills Funeral Home of Clinton, MO.
