Summer Workouts Now In Full Swing For Cardinals

Posted

The Lady Cardinals basketball kicked off summer basketball by heading to Warrensburg to compete at a one day team camp held by the UCM Lady Mules Basketball team. They were able to play against three different teams in a shootout style competition; East Buchanan, Fort Osage and Notre Dame de Sion.
Lady Cardinals coach Stacie Womack said, "The girls came out and played hard after a spring season away from basketball working towards getting back into basketball shape and the gym! We were also able to compete at the JV level with a good number of new freshmen making their debut at the high level".
The Lady Cardinals will be busy this summer with a number of shootout appearances as well as open gym opportunities and a full month of strength and conditioning training in the mornings. All working hard towards success next season!

On Thursday, June 1 the Clinton Wrestling Program hosted a summer scramble with many other schools in attendance. A word from Wrestling Head Coach Todd Mowrey below.
“These Thursday night scrambles are great for knocking the rust off between seasons. The returning wrestlers use the scrambles as a platform to work on new techniques, or just brushing up on their current technique. Wins or losses are the farthest thing from our focus during the summer scrambles. The scrambles are an even better scenario for the newer wrestlers. This gives the opportunity to wrestle against kids of their own skill level and allows them to better themselves in that aspect opposed to being in a match during the season against a much more advanced wrestler. To me, I think that is where we benefit the most is getting those new kids exposed to what wrestling really is without being dominated by seasoned opponents.”
