The Appleton City Museum is open every Friday 1:30-4:30 through September 29. The Museum will also be open on the first Saturday of each month from 1:30-3:30. If these times are not convenient, an appointment may be made by calling Patty at 660-598-4151 or Susan 660-476-5579.
It is time to renew annual memberships to the Appleton City Museum. The Museum operates solely on donations, memberships, fundraising lunches and interest from an endowment. Please consider a new membership or renewal at $15 individual, $25 family or $500 lifetime membership.
The ACHS Alumni Meeting will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 27, 2023 with a noon meal/meeting. Anyone is welcome to attend. Reservations of $14 may be mailed to Patti Purvis Young, 101 E. 3rd St, ACMO 64724. It will be $20 at the door. Lunch reservation deadline is May 13. The Yellow Rose Day is coming so residents of the Appleton City area your support is needed in placing the over 2000 yellow silk rosebuds on the oldest graves in the Appleton City Cemetery in time for Memorial Day. Roses will be placed on Monday, May 22, 2023 at 8:30 a.m., with a rain date of Tuesday, May 23, at 8:30 a.m. All individuals, families, clubs or groups are welcome. The Rivers Crossing Life Center, the senior center that serves St. Clair County, recently received a capacity-building grant as part of the Ozarks Food Harvest’s $1 million investment in agency infrastructure in southwest Missouri. The center that serves people 60 and older in Osceola and St. Clair County, will receive $450 for the purchase of new thermal food transportation bags and $2,000 to purchase foods through the Ozarks Food Harvest.
This grant will be a blessing as they serve adults 60 and older in St. Clair County with hot meals served in the dining room four days a week and meals delivered to the homes of qualified seniors.
As we come out of the drought of 2022, we begin to look at what forages survived, as well as which did not and what we might be looking at for the reestablishment of grazing systems in the near future. Join the MU Extension Office as they look at the most common forages adapted to southwest Missouri, the advantages of each, and how they might be established as the year moves forward. The facilitator for this program is Terry Halleran, MU Extension Agronomist. This free program, provide by your local MU Extension office, will be 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. Thursday, May 25 at the First Baptist Church, 555 Walnut Street in Osceola.
