Clinton Middle School is proud to announce it has selected Tim Townsend as its next girls basketball coach.
Coach Townsend is currently a physical education teacher at Clinton Middle School and has years of coaching experience in baseball, basketball, and football. Since joining the Clinton School District, Tim has been an assistant middle school football coach and assistant high school girls basketball coach.
During his high school years, Tim played baseball and continued to play at College of the Ozarks, where he also earned a degree in Physical Education.
Tim and his wife, Jordan (an assistant principal at Henry Elementary), will both be beginning their third year in the district this fall. They have three children (Ainsley, Easton, and Axton) who keep them busy.
“The group of girls we have returning at Clinton Middle School, as well as those joining the basketball program this year, have a lot of athletic ability,” says Coach Townsend. “I’ve had the pleasure of having most of them in my classes at CMS. They are hard workers and go all out in everything they do. I also had the opportunity to coach with Clinton High School head girls basketball coach, Stacie Womack for a year, and I know her expectations. The ultimate goal is to ensure these girls are fundamentally sound and to make it a smooth transition when they get to the high school level.”
Activities Director, Kevin LaFavor is excited about the future of the CMS basketball program, “Coach Townsend is a true professional whose coaching and teaching values are shown in everything he does for the district on a day to day basis. He has shown a commitment to not only our school district, but our community as well by starting a local 12u baseball program based out of Clinton. Tim has worked with Coach Womack in the past, and has a clear vision on the direction of the program as a whole. We are truly honored to have Coach Townsend leading the middle school girls basketball program.”
