Bethel Lou Chaffin was born November 20, 1946, to Eugene and Osa Dell Coleman. She passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by love and family on September 20, 2024.

Bethel married the love of her life, Raydean Otis Chaffin, on May 19, 1972, and recently celebrated 52 years of marriage. They made their home in Warsaw, Missouri in 1981 where she helped Ray with Ray’s Welding Service as the secretary, bookkeeper and gopher- although Ray might tell you she was a homemaker, something at which she excelled.

Many will remember Beth as the blacksmiths’ wife from the Kaysinger Pioneer Heritage Days, where she and Ray demonstrated with their family for 22 years. While Ray demonstrated blacksmithing she made wagon train dolls and more than a few friends.

She was a proud mother to five children: Jimmy, James and Ballentina (who have all gone on to wait for her). She is survived by her son Dane and daughter Beverly, both of Arlington, TX. Beth loved being a Mother, but found a special joy in being a grandma and great-grandma – an easy task for her. She has 17 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, several great great-grandchildren and still counting!

She shared a special bond with her granddaughter Cheralynn, partner Stetson and great-grandson Bear; and grandson Shane, wife Jessica and great-grandson Killian. She had many, many more adopted kids and grandkids that she took in and treasured equally throughout the years.

Beth wasn’t just a loving Mom and Grandma – she was a woman of deep faith. Over the years she was a member of many churches, actively serving in ministries and her community. She was known for her kindness, generosity and unconditional love. She never seemed to meet a stranger and had a knack for making people feel like they belonged.

Bethel never wanted a quiet, somber farewell. She requested a hallelujah party when she had flown away to glory. Her celebration will be the way she lived: with love, friends, family and food. Her service will be at Cedar Grove Baptist Church on Saturday, September 28 at 11:00 A.M. A BBQ family potluck will follow for family and close friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Beth Chaffin c/o the Reser Funeral Home 101 W. Main Street Warsaw, Missouri 65355.
You can always honor Beth’s memory by doing something kind for someone – pay for someones dinner, help a friend in need or simply share a smile. And don’t forget the coffee!
