Beverly Ann Albertson (also known as Beverly Hansen), passed away on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, unexpectedly.
Bev was born March 12, 1948 in Dallas, Texas to Ruth and Lonnie Brewer. She grew up in Texas and Utah with her parents and two older sisters, Brenda and Carrol, before moving to the Denver area with her family. Bev attended University of Colorado in Boulder. While in Colorado, she married and gave birth to her two sons, Mike and Eric. Bev then moved to Oklahoma with her family. In Oklahoma, Bev started her radio career at WBBZ, where she started as a receptionist but quickly moved into making commercials and scheduling various programming. In 1980, Bev moved to Clinton with her family where she raised her boys. She was quickly hired at KDKD, where she has been a near constant presence since 1980 (with only a brief hiatus that she spent working at Clinton Ford). She still really enjoyed calling on her long-term clients. While working at Clinton Ford, Bev met her husband David and they have been married over 28 years, so that short break from her days at KDKD really paid off.
Bev loved and was loved by many. Her family was the most important thing in the world to Bev, and we all felt that every single day. Bev was kind, tender hearted and generous beyond measure. She made everyone feel at ease and showed her love in many ways, including through her cooking. Every single visit with her family in Colorado included her fried chicken and her biscuits and gravy, which were legendary. Bev was rarely without a smile and could always offer a witty comment to help us all through tough times. Bev always ended her conversations with her family by telling us that she loved us bunches or that she loved us more than peaches, which always made us smile.
Bev was a devoted sports mom when her boys were growing up, and continued that role as our beloved Granny. Bev loved a good boat outing on Truman Lake with her grandchildren. She loved thrift store shopping with her sisters. And her trips with David to Texas for Jerry Jeff Walker concerts were always memorable and very dear to her. She loved living in Clinton and was involved in many local activities like Clinton Main Street, Turkey Talkers Thanksgiving Dinner and the KDKD Country Showdown. Despite her kind and generous soul, she was also a competitive spirit and loved a good game of cards or dominoes. And Bev was wicked smart and always wowed her friends and family with the breadth of her knowledge on a variety of topics. She was the perfect Trivial Pursuit partner. When visiting Bev in Clinton, her grandchildren marveled at hearing Bev in commercials on KDKD while using her “radio voice.”
Bev is survived by her husband, David Albertson, of Clinton, as well as her older son, Mike Hansen and daughter-in-law Veronica Hansen, and grandchildren Ellisa, William, Vivian and Waylon Hansen, all of Denver, and her younger son Eric Hansen, and daughter-in-law Amy Kiefer Hansen, and grandson Gus Hansen, all of Denver. Other survivors include sisters Brenda (Dick) Torrey of Seattle, and Carrol (John) Rufner, of Denver, and her mother-in-law Phoebe Hansen of Denver. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, old in-laws who are still family, extended family members and friends who are like family. Bev had many long-term clients from the radio station who she was honored to call her friends. Bev was preceded in death by her parents, her mother-in-law Juanita, and her beloved dog Shiner.
A Celebration of Life was held Monday, September 11, 2023 at the Vansant-Mills Chapel in Clinton, Missouri with Rev. Laine Morgan officiating.
Services were under the direction of Vansant-Mills Funeral Home of Clinton, MO.
