Jo Washburn, 87, of Holts Summit, passed away on April 6, 2024 surrounded by loved ones. Born to Thaddeous and Viola (Harrelson) Mead on June 25, 1936 in Clinton, she worked at Kreisler Drugstore for several years and eventually met her husband-to-be there, Ragene “Gene” Washburn. He said he liked her immediately because she was a spitfire despite her small stature. They married on Jo’s birthday in 1959 and later welcomed three children: Tammy, Michael and Cindy.
Jo and Gene owned and operated G & J Aircraft in Boonville for many years, but her heart was fulfilled by being a devoted mother and wife. She loved her family deeply, and when it expanded to include grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Jo’s love only multiplied.
In addition to her parents, Jo was preceded in death by her beloved husband Gene in 2008.
Survivors include her three children: Tammy (Doug) Tice, Michael (Layne) Washburn, Cindy (Mike) Malone; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Private family services were held at Memorial Park Cemetery in Columbia.
