The City of Lincoln has announced that Andrew Breshears has accepted the role and filling the vacancy for the position of Police Chief.
Breshears has eleven years experience in law enforcement; ten years with the Benton County Sheriff’s Department and one year as a Reserve Officer for the City of Lincoln.
Breshears is a native Benton Countian and the son of Carey and Dena Whitworth Breshears. Breshears and his twin brother, Anthony, grew up on their parent’s 500 acre farm in the Edwards, Missouri area. They both had their share of family chores tending to the beef herd. In school, he was a leader and a mentor in sports and other school activities.
He worked with and helped manage the day-to-day operations of the family construction business, Breshears Homes Inc. for several years before joining the police academy in Warrensburg and then taking a position with the Sheriff’s office.
From the time he spent as a Reserve Officer, Chief Breshears knows the position of City Officer is very different from his job with the Sheriff’s Office. One of his goals is that he hopes to develop a good relationship with the community and build trust with its residents, especially the youth in Lincoln.
“I hope I can make them comfortable to come and talk to me if they need to,” he said.
He continued, “Social media has put law enforcement in a bad light and I hope I can change that a little, here in Lincoln.”
One of his first goals is to hire a second officer soon to fill the vacant position that now exists.
Chief Breshears was hired after unanimous approval of Mayor Glen Nelson and the Board of Aldermen.
