Calhoun Community Church
Welcome to the Good News from Calhoun Community Church. Our church family gathers at 9:30 a.m. for pre- church food and fellowship. We use this special time for visiting one with another, welcoming guests as they arrive for Worship, and signing cards of encouragement for our card ministry. Mason McNeely and Kynslee Conner rang the church bell at 9:45 to call our church families to worship at 10:00.
Our prayer list includes: Debby and Clint Land, Sondra Short, Millie Redding, Amber and Patrick Dittmer and Brecklynn, and Dave Burson; the war in Israel and Ukraine, our military men and women and their families, as well as others in service jobs that we depend upon daily. We pray for guidance as we continue to grow, here on the southeast corner of the Calhoun square.
Joys to celebrate: All things bright and beautiful could have described this morning as we came together to praise the Lord. We all enjoyed the homemade peanut butter cookies shared by Carol Lane and Diane Mills brought spiced almonds for pre-church fellowship this morning. Jackie Wilson and Mason Keller lit the altar candles at the beginning of our service today. Special Music: “In the Land Where We Never Grow Old,” shared bf,: Ms. Verna; Shelby Bicknell played the keyboard and sang “My Savior Walks with Me;” accompanied by Jeremy Reed on the drums; thanks to all for sharing. Jackie and Mason served as ushers collecting the offering. We are a diverse group here at Calhoun Community Church. We try to have a little fun as well as Praise the Lord during our church experience.
We invite you to be our guest any Sunday morning at 10:00, come dressed as you are comfortable. Plan to receive a blessing for your effort, bring the youngsters and we will be blessed by your presence.
Thought for the week: “We are all pencils in the hand of God.”

On Sunday, Pastor Pat Findley delivered the third message of the series ‘Pray Like This’ titled “Kingdom Come”. After reflecting on an incredible week at Mission Fuge, a mission and camp combination for teens, Pastor Pat explained why we pray for His Kingdom to come. Jesus teaches us to pray for His Kingdom because the sin of this world causes us to live in a spiritual battlefield. God is King, who established His Kingdom, beginning with creation, and His people are His plan to advance His Kingdom. The Holy Spirit is a gift within us that enables us to advance His Kingdom now as we wait for His Kingdom to come when Jesus returns. While we do not know when, we should seek first His Kingdom by surrendering to His will and remember His mission. He is always available and His mission is the calling. Be bold! Be available! Be on mission!
Celebrate Recovery is on Tuesday evenings at 5:30 pm at the Vansant location for anyone with hurts, habits, or hangups. Worship service times are 9:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. and Sunday School is offered at 8:15 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. For more information and upcoming events, please visit www.firstbaptistclinton.church or find us on Facebook at ‘First Baptist Church – Clinton, MO’.
We invite those without a church home to join us in worship of our Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ. First Baptist Church exists to fulfill the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20) by loving people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.

Mt. Calvary Apostolic Pentecostal
“God’s Anointed”
Anointed: To authorize or set apart a person for a particular work or service.
For priests, kings, and prophets.
To pour oil on a person’s head.
God is the same, yesterday, today and forever more. Those things from the Old Testament come into the New Testament, and we learn more of God when we read both the Old and New Testament
We are consecrated to be set apart (Exodus 29:5)
Psa 133:2.
Aaron was anointed to where it ran down his beard. It had to have dropped on down to his feet. He was anointed all over.
Samuel spoke to Saul regarding his anointing. He was anointed to do a particular work for God. Samuel communicated to Saul that he would do well as long as he was obedient to God.
However, Saul was disobedient.
We have to remind ourselves that we have the Holy Ghost, and we need to be aware as the devil tries to pull us away from God.
He knows who you are in God and will try to get you to lose your anointing.
God sent Samuel to Jessie’s house to find a king.(1Samuel 16:12) his son, David was God’s anointed. We should conduct ourselves as anointed. (1Samuel 26:7-11).
Saul was God’s anointed, but lost it.
David recognized Saul’s anointing though he was David’s enemy.
1Sa 26:7.
Abishal told David that God had delivered his enemy in his hands. Abishal wanted to kill Saul, but David told him not to harm him because he was God’s anointed, and who can do harm to God’s anointed?
He told him as the Lord lives, God would strike him, his day would come to die, or be killed in battle. The Lord would fight your battle. You won’t have to.
They came upon Saul sleeping again in a cave, and David cut off a piece of his robe.
He felt guilty for doing that. It is a good lesson to do nothing to God’s anointed.
We must handle the situation in a loving way
Isa 61:1-2.
God will anoint us to do all that Isaiah 61:1-2 says.
Mrk 6:13.
The anointing was used differently, it was frequently used in healing. It was done by the hand of God. Jesus chose these disciples to go out and help others who were in need of healing. Jesus used the anointing to heal and cast out devils.
James instructed the church to anoint with oil to people’s head.
Act 2:38.
This is the anointing of the Holy Ghost in the New Testament. When we receive the anointing of Holy Spirit, it is in our whole body, inside and out, top to bottom.
1Jn 2:27.
Satan is full of tricks. Don’t let anyone tell you that you don’t have the Holy Ghost when you know you do, or teach from another source than the Holy scriptures.

Trinity Lutheran

Some 64 years ago, Ray Cosens, his wife, Alma, and their two young children, moved to Clinton so Ray could begin work at Kansas City Power and Light’s Montrose Station.
The young family was new in town, unchurched, and didn’t know anyone. Jim Wilhoit, a fellow KCPL employee and member of Trinity Lutheran Church-Clinton, invited the Cosens family to attend church with him and his wife, Evelyn, and their daughter, Kendra. Before long, this simple invitation led to Ray and Alma’s adult confirmation and becoming new members of Trinity Lutheran Church. In addition, Ray and the two children, Ronnie and Kim, were all baptized and the entire family began attending church regularly at Trinity.
Over the ensuing half century, the new family in town grew in their faith through the ministry of the Trinity Lutheran Church congregation, and developed many close, personal, and lifelong friendships within their new church family. As the years went by, a total of five children from this family were confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church, as were their children. All of this and much more was the result of Jim and Evelyn Wilhoit’s openness to the Holy Spirit’s prompting more than five decades ago to invite the new family in town to attend church with them.
What does this mean for us? Perhaps we all should be more open to the Holy Spirit’s leading and consider who we might want to invite to attend church with us this Sunday. This simple act can have a profound influence on the lives of many, many people for generations to come.
All thanks to a simple invitation to a young family from Jim and Evelyn Wilhoit to attend church with them. Praise God!

The heat didn’t keep the faithful away from worship service. Joshua Sowell rang the church bell. Mrs. Julia Klinefelter led in the congregational singing with Mrs. Dixie Collins playing piano and Mrs. Becca Sowell playing violin. We rejoiced with Bill Kelsay on his birthday. Randy Vogt and Jim Kelsay collected the offering.
The scripture passage from interim Pastor Steve Sowell’s sermon was from Romans 5: 1-21.
It seems the world today is in a state of confusion, loss of hope, fear, and insecurity that is ruling our lives. In Romans 5 it tells us we can have hope, security, and peace through faith in Christ Jesus. We have so many benefits through faith in Him. We have access to God who listens and cares for us. We have the gift of forgiveness and eternal life. We have freedom from the rule of sin, and the free gift of righteousness. When we live in a right relationship with Christ we will have a right relationship with others, which is a description for living a wonderful life. Have a blessed week.

Valley Center United
We are an open and affirming church and welcome all to come and worship with us next Sunday morning at 9 am.
The Gospel’s are words which are important to read, but they also include action. To go where we need to go and do what we need to do. To make a difference.
This past week, 23 members of the Valley Center Church went to a very rural area in south MO to help that community with their many needs. One large crew worked on building a shower house and another group installed a new shower and floor for an individual. There was food put in their “Blessing Box” for all those in need. There were days of using weed eaters, chainsaws and a lot of painting being done. What a gift it was to have the opportunity to work hard and help others! It was a week of love and fellowship. Thank you Lord for providing this opportunity and all of the willing folks who worked so hard to make it all possible! We went out in joy and returned with peace! Bring on the next opportunity!
Early in our lives we learned about the story of David and Goliath. This story is about our mighty God who gave confidence to a young boy named David, who after his leader Saul declined to go into battle with Goliath. He offered to go without hesitation. Even with the huge difference in experience and physical strength between them, David chose to use his own skills against Goliath instead of Saul’s. He slayed Goliath with his simple method. This act of heroism sent out a message of God’s amazing power which had worked through David.
We have moments when we are called upon to fight against a Goliath. Life calls us to battle even when it seems like there is no chance of winning. David was doing it in the name of the Lord. God gave him the power to be faithful and righteous. God also gives us the resources to prevail. Each of us have different concerns or battles to fight. We all live differently, but the common thread is when we see something fearful or more powerful than we are, we can keep the faith and finish the battle because we have truth, love and God on our side. We are not afraid of the Goliath’s we meet. We can go forward to do what we need to do and the strength we have is in our faith in God.
