Darla Sue VanWinkle, age 68, of Clinton, Missouri passed away on Monday, January 20, 2025 at Golden Valley Memorial Hospital in Clinton, Missouri.
Darla was born and raised in the Clinton area. After high school, she enlisted in the US Air Force and served several years before transitioning to the reserves. She spent her career as a US Postal Carrier in El Dorado, Kansas. Once Darla retired, she moved home to her farm outside of Clinton.
Darla enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her sister, Donna. They spent time swapping puzzles, playing Farkle, and checking on each other every day. Darla also enjoyed her farm life and her cats. Darla was a lifelong season ticket holder for the KC Chiefs and enjoyed rooting for them every time they played.
Darla was preceded in death by her parents, Lavonne Teets and Roy VanWinkle.
Survivors include her sister, Donna Breshears of Clinton, Missouri, her nephew, Sean Elges of Clinton, Missouri, niece, Brandi Breshears (Payton) of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, great nieces, Andrea (Adam) Custer of Clinton, Missouri and Haley Elges of Independence, Missouri, great nephews, Logan Elges of Clinton, Missouri and Ryan, Steven and Merrick Custer of Clinton, Missouri.
Graveside services were held January 24, 2025 in Englewood Cemetery with Rev. David Mills officiating. Military honors were under the direction of VFW Post #1894 and the US Air Force.
Services were under the direction of Vansant-Mills Funeral Home of Clinton, MO.
