Darlene attended schools in Kansas City and Clinton. She celebrated class reunions with the Class of ’57. She married Robert Lee Harrison, and they had four children: Robert Keith Harrison, Mark Kevin Harrison, Jill Kathlene Harrison Barnhart, and Jana Kaye Harrison Collins. She was a proud grandmother of Cristin Berg, Chance Barnhart, Irelynn Collins, and Jack Collins. She found joy in her great-grandchildren, Skylar Berg, Landon Berg, Lexi Barnhart, Brody Barnhart, and Eli Barnhart. She was also loved by many nieces and nephews. Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, sons, Robert Keith and Mark Kevin, and her sister, Norma.
Darlene enjoyed many interests over the years. She worked in the cafeteria at Clinton Public Schools, making delicious cinnamon rolls. Her deviled eggs and baked beans were her specialty for family get-togethers. She volunteered at the Golden Valley Hospital. She loved reading and quilting. She made cute teddy bears, each dressed as a different character. In her later years, her passion was gardening and pulling weeds. She was featured on the 2018 Henry County Garden Tour.
Darlene had many pets throughout her life. Animals were attracted to her and found a good home when they landed on her doorstep. From Dixie, Queenie, Lady, Roxie, Sugar, to Dolly, her last cat, there are too many to list.
Many thanks to all the doctors, nurses, and caregivers over the years.
