Dorothy Massingill, age 73, of Stover, Missouri passed away on Monday, April 14, 2025 at Golden Valley Memorial Hospital in Clinton, Missouri.
Dorothy Massingill was born on April 11, 1952 to Betty Jean (Linney) and Earnest Sutton on the family homestead. Dorothy graduated from Stover High School in 1970. She worked at Amex in Versailles, Missouri and Stover Quilting in Stover, Missouri. Dorothy loved life, sitting on her porch watching her hummingbirds, sewing, being outdoors, and most of all her family and friends.
Dorothy had 4 children Barbara Harlow of Clinton, Missouri, Lora Roark of Clinton, Missouri, James Reynolds of Guthrie, Oklahoma, and David and Abby Massingill of Cole Camp, Missouri. Dorothy is also survived by her siblings Rick and Terry Sutton of Tabor, Iowa, Bea and Terri Sutton of Stover, Missouri, Karen Kellogg of Stover, Missouri and David Sutton of Versailles, Missouri, 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents Earnest and Betty (Linney) Sutton and 3 brothers Ernest Sutton, Jerry Sutton Sr. and Amos Sutton.
Funeral services were held April 28, 2025 at the Vansant-Mills Chapel, Clinton with Rev. David Mills officiating. Special music included “I Hope You Dance and Never Not Remember You.” The casket bearers were James Reynolds, Ricky Williams, Bea Sutton, Jacob Roark, Stephen Williams and David Massingill. Interment followed in Stover Cemetery, Stover, MO.
Services were under the direction of Vansant-Mills Funeral Home of Clinton, MO.
