Elsie Florence Register Goslin passed away peacefully on Monday, October 28, 2024, at the age of 90.
Born on February 11, 1934, to Robert Delane “Bud” Register and Mary Roberts Register in Bethel Parish, Louisiana, Florence was one of eleven siblings, including Willard Lee Register, Winnie Corrine Bryan, Robert Joseph Register, Gene Austin Register, Betty Marjorie Price, Mary Alice Edmiston, Wayne DeLee Register, Richard Gerald Register, Wallace Sandifer Register, and Ronald Dean Register.
After graduating from Logansport High School in 1952, Florence moved to Shreveport, where she began working as a switchboard operator for Southern Bell Telephone. It was here she met the love of her life, Donald Goslin, who was a switchboard operator at Barksdale Airforce Base. The two felt an immediate connection, and just two months after meeting, they married, beginning a beautiful journey that spanned an incredible 67 and a half years. Florence and Donald shared a deep, abiding love that was evident in everything they did together, from raising a family to traveling the world side by side. Their bond was a source of strength, warmth, and inspiration to all who knew them.
Florence dedicated herself to her family and community throughout her life. She worked briefly as a receptionist at Bush Hatchery before becoming a full-time homemaker and mother. In 1954, she and Donald moved to Clinton, Missouri, where she became an active member of Clinton Christian Church. Florence served the church in nearly every role imaginable, coordinating vacation Bible school as a teacher, refreshment coordinator, and activities director. She was deeply involved in the Christian Women’s Fellowship and was honored as an Elder Emeritus for her years of dedication. Her love for fellowship extended beyond church as she was a cherished member of her Canasta Club for 70 years.
Florence was a talented homemaker, celebrated for her exceptional baking and sewing skills. Her lemon and chocolate pies were family favorites, and her homemade rolls became a staple at family gatherings. As a seamstress, Florence crafted everything from elegant wedding and prom dresses to everyday clothing, and her attention to detail and dedication to fine work earned her the admiration of many.
Florence is survived by her loving children: Rodney Goslin (Nancy) of Coal, Carol Garman (David) of Columbia, Linda DiPrima (Peter) of Carolina Beach, NC, and Diane Killingsworth (Jim Mauritsen) of Ruidoso, NM. She leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Casey Keller (Phillip), Ryan Parks (Ashley), Stephen Gehm (Sherilynn), Lindsey Parks, Gunnar Goslin, Jack Goslin, Kyleigh Roberson (Ryan), David J. Garman, McKenna Arnzen (Phillip), and Chandler Brown. Florence’s legacy continues in her great-grandchildren, including Max Hansen, Dominique Malveaux, Nora and Reed Parks, Kendall Keller, Nathan Roberson, and Simon and Sam Gehm.
Florence loved traveling the world with Donald, but always maintained a deep connection to her roots in Louisiana, frequently returning to visit family. In addition to her many roles as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she was also a compassionate volunteer, giving her time to hospice services in her community. Her selflessness, patience, and warmth touched the lives of many and was a testament to the loving relationship she and Donald shared—a love that only grew stronger with each passing year.
A special thanks is extended to the staff at Jefferson Gardens for their dedicated care and compassion during the past three years of Florence’s life.
Florence will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.
