1) What was the goal at the start of the season?
TM-The main goal this season was a little different than many schools. Obviously, we want to get as many wrestlers to state as possible, but we were also completely focused on recruiting more athletes to the team. I'm very pleased with the turnaround and the numbers we have at this point. We look to build on those numbers even more next season.

2) What do you do outside of practice to further build relationships with athletes?
TM-Wrestling is a very unique sport when it comes to relationships. It's like a very close family in our room. I think of all my athletes like my own. The biggest thing is staying real and truthful with them. Building relationship is by far the most important aspect of recruiting and retaining athletes. Simple things like relating to their lifestyle and personality go a long way.

3) How often do you practice and how long is that said practice?
TM-We practice 5 days a week for 2 or 2.5 hours. It's a grind. Practices have to be the hardest part of wrestling, not the matches.

4) What do you have to say about your coaching staff?
TM-All the coaches bring a lot of knowledge to the team. Each of us brings a little something different to the table. This helps each wrestler we have. What works for one, may not work for another and I believe we have all the basis covered

5) How do you motivate your team as a whole or a member that is feeling down about a tournament or meet?
TM-All in all, the biggest thing is looking to get to that end result of making the state tournament. Wrestling is a very long, tough season and can be very humbling at times. Everyone sticking together helps pull others out of a slump. Everyone has a bad day and at the end of that day, we have a great group and somebody is always there to pick you up. We get to focus on being great teammates.

6) Would you rather wrestle at home or away? Why?
TM-There are pros and cons to both but it's always good to be in front of your home crowd

7) How do you get your team reset after losing a dual, match, etc?
TM-I always tell them the good thing about a loss is there's another match to redeem yourself. We first focus on what needs to be fixed to build some confidence going into the next round.

8) As a coach what is your favorite part about the job?
TM-At the end of the day it's 100% about building relationships and seeing kids succeed and progress. If they're enjoying what they're doing it makes it easier on everyone and it never becomes a "job"
