Janice Lee Sublette, age 79, of Clinton, Missouri, passed away on February 24, 2026, peacefully at home after losing her hard battle with cancer.
Born on January 21, 1947 in Cole Camp, Missouri, she was the daughter of Lloyd and Flora Shoemaker. She graduated from Cole Camp where she met lifelong friends and her high school sweetheart. On August 28, 1965, she married Dan Sublette and together for 60 years they built a life centered on family, faith and love.
In 1980, Jan took on a position as a bus driver for the Clinton School District. Still to the day, her bus babies would walk up and give her a hug and say how much they loved her. In 1990, a position with the State of Missouri WIC program was taken. Once again, she was able to see her bus babies come in as parents with their own
babies. After 12 years of WIC, Jan continued helping people at both the Deepwater, Missouri and Clinton, Missouri Senior Centers and as a Walmart greeter.
She is survived by her husband Dan, two children, Valerie Miller (Mike) and Jim Sublette, three grandchildren, Gage, Remington and Raynee Sublette, lots of nieces, great nieces, nephews and great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Joe Shoemaker, sister Jean Rabers (Shoemaker).
Our mom/wife was known for her love, kindness, strength, humor, generosity and faith. She loved being surrounded by family, fishing, supporting the local animal shelter, baking, holiday cooking, going to the casino, helping the less fortunate when her gut said to, playing the lottery and buying scratch off tickets. But most of all, she was famous for getting people involved doing the chicken dance!
Her presence brought warmth, laughter, smiles and comfort to everyone who knew her.
